The core of Ethos Taverna's culinary philosophy lies in its commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients, particularly its seafood. The restaurant boasts a dazzling display of fresh fish on ice, a testament to their dedication to serving the finest catch. This focus on fresh ingredients is evident throughout the menu, from the seafood to the vegetables and cheeses. The menu itself is a journey through traditional Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, offering a wide array of options that cater to every palate.
The dining experience at Ethos is highly regarded, with many customers praising the food's quality and the restaurant's atmosphere. One reviewer highlighted the incredible value of the prix-fixe lunch menu, which includes multiple courses. They particularly raved about the Greek-style feta salad, describing it as "fantastic" and reminiscent of salads from Greece. The grilled salmon also received high praise for being "tender on the inside" and "exquisite." This feedback underscores the restaurant's ability to deliver a memorable and authentic dining experience that goes beyond typical Greek fare.
Ethos Taverna is also known for its diverse offerings that go beyond the standard entrees. The Small Plates, or "Meze," are perfect for sharing and provide a great way to sample different flavors. Options like Saganaki (flambéed cheese) and Octapodi Sharas (grilled octopus) are classics that transport you straight to a taverna in Athens. The Raw Bar offers a unique selection of fresh seafood, and the daily happy hour for oysters and clams adds a touch of special value. For those seeking something more substantial, the skewers and Eros Specialties, such as the Sea Food Orzo (The Greek Paella), provide a rich and satisfying meal.
While a few reviews have mentioned inconsistencies in certain dishes or in packaging for takeout, the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the atmosphere, a few standout dishes, and overall service suggests that Ethos Taverna is a solid choice. The restaurant’s interior, with its unique bar and greenhouse venue, is often a highlight for patrons, providing a charming and inviting backdrop to the meal. Ethos Taverna Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ordered the 4 spreads online — who knew they wouldn’t be packaged separately? No, they were all in one container, and turned into a disgusting container of slop on the way. $53 into the trash. And the spanakopita was cold — dipping it into the slop didn’t improve it any.Disgusting. NEVER AGAIN.AVOID AVOID AVOID.
July 05 · Jeff WIf the prices come off as expensive, it's because the food is well worth the cost, both in quantity and quality.I ordered from the prix-fixe lunch menu (3 courses for $29 pre-tax pre-tip) and had grilled calamari, Greek-style feta salad, grilled salmon with tomatoes and capers over rice pilaf, and a cheesecake. The grilled calamari was below average (doughy, no flavor). However, the feta salad, reminiscent of salads I had in Patras, was fantastic - a solid block of feta over fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and pitted olives drenched in a very high quality olive oil with parsley (where you can taste the olives)! The grilled salmon was no less exquisite. Large cut, charred on the outside, tender on the inside, decked in diced sour tomatoes with capers and an aromatic rice pilaf on the side. I only regret that I ate this too quickly and barely had enough space for the thick, mildly sweetened cheesecake at the closer. The interior is also worth a special mention - there is a unique bar and greenhouse venue with excellent atmosphere, which was the cherry on top of my visit. Overall a very solid choice that lives up to its pricy asks, out-benching even the gold standards of Greek food in Manhattan (think Greek Taverna, Nerai, Estiatorio Milos, etc.).Will be coming back again.
July 26 · Cary WangI’ve order from this place couple of times before, their bifteki pita sandwich which was always fine. This time I order grilled salmon which was horrible totally burned and spanakorizo ( spinach rice which was tasty but full of sand because the spinach they used wasn’t washed well it wasn’t washed at all it’s not pleasant eating sand!I won’t ever order from them again, they send me a piece of galatobureko (complimentary) which was also burned on the sides! Thanks but no thanks!
August 12 · Barbara DimiI decided to leave a five star review for Ethos because I saw there was only 1 review and it was only 1 star and I would not want anyone to think the restaurant is worthy of only 1 Star. The 1 Star review was totally inaccurate and unfair. Even if it’s true that the delivery man did not take the food to the apartment, (completely understandable during a pandemic) why would the entire restaurant be blamed...I have lived in the neighborhood for 6 years, I have eaten at ethos even before I moved to Murray Hill. The food quality, service, ambience has been consistently great throughout the years...I have never had bad food when I’ve eaten in or taken out. Ethos is one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan because of this.
July 20 · Jaclyn DietlCame here late at night because I have a weekly martial arts lesson nearby and found this place on restaurant.com. I was a little worried given the current mediocre rating but am very glad I ended up trying it!We asked the waiter what the most popular dish was, and what dish people don't order as often as they should. He recommended the Lavraki (Branzino) and Ribeye steak respectively. Both were excellent, as was the Horiatiki salad we started with; the tomatoes were good, which is always a good sign that one doesn't have to be careful about what to order. The agiorgitiko red wine was lovely as well. I look forward to trying more of the menu next time
