Five Guys Introduce
In a city with a burger on every block, some places stand out not for their gourmet flair, but for their simple, unwavering commitment to quality. Five Guys is one such place, and its location at 690 3rd Avenue in Midtown East has become a familiar and reliable stop for locals, tourists, and office workers alike. While New York is famous for its diverse culinary scene, sometimes what you really crave is a classic American meal: a juicy burger, a handful of hot dogs, and a mountain of fries. Five Guys delivers on this promise with a no-frills, high-quality approach that has earned it a dedicated following. This isn’t a place for a quiet, intimate dinner, but rather a bustling, energetic spot where the focus is squarely on the food. The concept is straightforward: fresh ingredients, cooked to order, with a focus on generous portions and customizable toppings. This article will explore what makes this specific Five Guys a worthwhile destination in the heart of New York City.
Five Guys' reputation is built on its simplicity and quality. They famously have "no freezers" in their restaurants, a testament to their commitment to using fresh ground beef and hand-cut potatoes. The menu is intentionally limited—burgers, hot dogs, and fries—but the possibilities are nearly endless due to their free, customizable toppings. This approach allows every customer to build their perfect meal, creating over 250,000 unique burger combinations. While some might find the lack of combo meals and high prices a drawback, many argue that the quality and quantity of food justify the cost. The generous portions, particularly of the fries, are legendary; a "regular" size often overflows the cup, with an extra scoop added to the bag, ensuring no one leaves hungry. This signature "extra scoop" has become a recognizable hallmark of the Five Guys experience. The atmosphere is casual and lively, with a distinct red-and-white tiled decor and bags of potatoes stacked throughout the dining area, which adds to the rustic, fresh-food vibe.
The location of this Five Guys at 690 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10017, places it in a prime spot in Midtown East. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1New York is famous, supposedly, for hot dogs.So I decided to try one here.As you can see from the pictures it was not good at all.It was the most pathetic, tasless hot dog I ever got!For 15$ I could have a lot better meal anywhere else.Avoid this pathetic place, it is not worth your effort and money!
March 24 · PUMPA DOURGood food. Quite expensive but burger is big and fries portions are huge. It is like you get an extra scoop into your bag all the time.I did ask for a cheeseburger with all toppings but I only got salad, pickles and onions/mushrooms. Half the other stuff was not there. When my number was called I did not hear at first, that is on me, but no need to shout like im stupid or something goddamn it.
November 01 · Felipe Nardini SemedoClassic, simple burgers and fries. Fast and friendly service at this location. It seems like they are constantly cleaning and wiping things down. Coke Freestyle machine is a real bonus. Always fresh and always a bit of an indulgence.
August 20 · Emily SpottThis place is too hot - the employees are sweating because whoever is managing the air conditioner is leaving it too hot. It can make a person punchy; they forgot to put relish on my burger like I ordered - I had to ask multiple times for relish for my burger - and they seemed confused the entire time. It’s hot - bump up the air conditioner.
July 07 · Fred Chong RutherfordIf you're ordering the veggie sandwich be informed there's no burger. It's literally bread and veggies. I thought I was getting a plant based burger, but unfortunately that was not the case. I was very disappointed to say the least.I took off two stars for the atmosphere because there was a mentally ill, /homeless man that sat near me sought of blocking me in the, booth where I sat. Fortunately, I was just about to leave so it wasn't too much of an interruption to my meal time. However, for safety reasons I would not have continued eating my meal at that booth under the circumstances.
