★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The sesame noodles are always a good move. The dumplings are perfectly fried with chili oil and fresh scallions. Apologies because we ate them all before taking a photo so you don’t get the full effect.Only note: I want more moss!
August 23 · Adrianne ECool space with a simple but comprehensive menu. The food was good, but I’ll say that because they’ve just opened they’re still working out the kinks. The mushroom poppers were delicious (better than the chicken). The lou rou fan was tender and well spiced, while the dumplings were a bit of a let down. Not really flavorful, but decent.I’m glad this spot exists and I’m hoping it blossoms.
August 31 · Kamy ChongGreat addition to the neighborhood! The food was delicious. Easy take out or dine in spot. Friendly staff and atmosphere.
August 23 · Devin ShepherdThe first time we tried Formosa in Prospect Heights, we ordered pork dumplings, veggie dumplings, chicken, and popcorn chicken. The veggie dumplings were the standout — really tasty — but the order still took about 40 minutes for takeout. We gave it another try today and ordered just veggie dumplings, and it still took 35 minutes. They need to work on their speed for sure. It’s not a sit-down type of place — it feels more like a fast-food spot — so waiting that long just doesn’t make sense. The food is good, but not “wait around that long” good.
September 11 · Chrissy KSo happy to have an authentic Taiwanese restaurant in the Prospect Heights area. The popcorn chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside (and juicy chicken bites inside) with a nice craggly crunch. The lu rou fan was delicious, and is the star of the show for us. The dumplings were good, although we will be back to try another flavor. These dishes were reminiscent of grandma’s cooking, the vibe of the restaurant was homey and comforting. We will be back!
