Guobaorou 锅包肉 Introduce
**Introduction / Overview: Your Culinary Gateway to Northeastern China**
For New Yorkers seeking a truly authentic and regional Chinese dining experience beyond the familiar Cantonese or Szechuan options, **Guobaorou 锅包肉** in Flushing, Queens, is an essential destination. Named after the iconic Northeastern Chinese dish—**Guobaorou (Harbin Fried Pork in Scoop)**—this restaurant proudly specializes in the hearty, savory, and comforting cuisine of the Dongbei region. Unlike many of the more generalized Chinese eateries found across the boroughs, Guobaorou 锅包肉 focuses on the unique flavors and cooking styles popular in cities like Harbin and Shenyang.
The core of the menu is built around **comfort food**, featuring rich, flavorful stews, satisfying stir-fries, and a remarkable selection of specialized cold and hot dishes. The namesake dish, Guobaorou, is a hallmark of this regional style, often characterized by its tender, twice-fried pork slices coated in a tangy, sweet sauce—a truly addictive combination of textures and flavors. This commitment to a specific regional style is what sets this establishment apart in the highly competitive Flushing food scene, offering locals and visitors a genuine taste of one of China's most distinctive culinary traditions.
The atmosphere here is **casual** and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for any occasion, whether it’s a quick solo lunch, a casual date, or a large family dinner exploring new flavors. The restaurant is popular for both **lunch** and **dinner**, providing flexible dining options that cater to the busy schedule of a New Yorker. Customers consistently praise the food as "absolutely amazing, fresh, well seasoned," highlighting the generous portions suitable for sharing and the genuinely cozy atmosphere. For those eager to delve into the bold, wholesome flavors of Dongbei cooking, Guobaorou 锅包肉 is a required stop.

July 04 · Madison LiWe found this place last Sunday evening after a day in the city. My girl wanted me to experience more authentic style food than I’m used to in Florida and I’m so glad that we found this restaurant, I always stay in Flushing and she lives very close to this restaurant and it was the perfect place for a second date! The food was absolutely amazing, fresh, well seasoned and enough to share from each dish! The service was great and the place is quite cozy, it was the first time here for both of us and on my next visit to Flushing we will definitely be returning!! I highly recommend Guo Bao Rou!!
February 09 · sean menorI was craving something that was bold, and spicy flavors and stumbled into this restaurant ! The flavors are complex, with a perfect balance of spice, savory richness, and a hint of sourness. Everything on the menu looked so good, that I wanted to order the entire menu! The staff is very attentive, quick service and the prices are very reasonable considering the amount of food served the portion are huge! Highly recommended for anyone who loves a little kick in their meal! I definitely will be back with a big group next time to try more items on the menu!
May 16 · Amy CThe Guo Bao Rou was just as good as when I had it in Jilin! And the shredded dry tofu with spicy oil was excellent!! Definitely recommend for Northeastern style Chinese dishes
January 04 · Philip SmallwoodThis place is very good, definitely has the best guobaorou in Queens, the batter is so light and crispy! The liangpi was one of the best I have had, points off for the sauce as I like my sauce more peanuty than soy saucy. Ordered 4 dishes and everything was great, definitely will come back, price and portion are reasonable as well
