### What is worth choosing
Choosing Guyana Choice Bakery means choosing authentic, deeply traditional Guyanese cuisine, often described by long-time New Yorkers of West Indian descent as tasting "very nostalgic" and being a central part of the community's culinary landscape. For those new to Guyanese flavors, exploring the
Salara
(coconut roll), the savoryChicken Patties
, and the famousCheese Rolls
provides a fantastic introduction to the rich baking heritage of the region. At one point, one customer, reminiscing about the authentic quality, declared thecheeseroll
to be "the best so far in NY," underscoring the potential quality and cultural importance of the products when they are at their best. However, local users must be advised to make their choice with caution, as recent customer feedback highlights serious concerns that cannot be overlooked. While the bakery holds cultural significance, highly negative and explicit reviews raise immediate flags regarding both quality control and fundamental health standards. Specifically, one customer expressed being "highly disappointed at the cheese rolls, pine tarts and cheese straws," describing the quality as "The worst. Hard doughy." Another review reported a severe cleanliness issue, stating that they observed the premises to be "infested with rats" and advising patrons, "Do not come here!! This place is very disgusting and nasty." The same customer also noted that the prices were "very expensive compared to Liberty."
Therefore, while the bakery remains a cultural resource for traditional Guyanese ingredients and baked goods, its choice is best suited for patrons who understand the high level of risk associated with the widely reported concerns regarding food hygiene and inconsistent product quality. For any New Yorker prioritizing strict cleanliness standards and consistent quality, these factual, publicly available reports are critical considerations that weigh heavily against the appeal of the bakery’s traditional and authentic menu. Patrons should conduct their own assessment, weighing the desire for the nostalgic flavors of
Guyanese pastry
against the serious operational issues that have been explicitly reported by multiple users.Guyana Choice Bakery Details

March 28 · Randy PWas craving some Guyanese pastry, google directed me to this spot on Liberty Avenue, Queens. Highly disappointed at the cheese rolls, pine tarts and cheese straws. The worst. Hard doughy. Cheese straws were spicy pepper biscuits. What happened to good tasting flaky authentic Guyanese pastries.
April 17 · Dee Jack💛💙❤️ They offer fresh coconut juice early in the morning. You can drink it straight from the coconut. It was delicious and guy cutting the coconut is very friendly. 6 dollars per coconut.
August 01 · IsabellaThey have fresh bread and pastries. Their cheeseroll is the best so far in NY, even better than sybil's. If you're from the west indies then this place will be very nostalgic. Very nice.
