Hiyake Yakiniku BBQ Introduce
In the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where innovative dining concepts are the norm, Hiyake Yakiniku BBQ presents a uniquely multifaceted culinary experience. While the name highlights its specialty in Yakiniku (Japanese grilled meat), this establishment successfully operates as an authentic Japanese restaurant that weaves together elements of a Yakiniku restaurant, an Izakaya restaurant, and notably, a Ramen restaurant. For New Yorkers seeking a high-quality, authentic taste of Asian cuisine, Hiyake offers a depth of menu choices that goes far beyond a typical single-concept eatery.
Hiyake Yakiniku BBQ is a celebrated destination for those craving the interactive experience of Japanese BBQ. Diners grill bite-sized, premium cuts of meat—including luxurious A5 Wagyu—right at their table, ensuring every piece is cooked to their preference. This is often an omakase-style experience, providing a curated journey through exquisite flavors. However, in a city where soup noodles are sacred, the inclusion of a dedicated Ramen offering on their menu makes Hiyake an unexpected dual-threat. While details of the specific ramen varieties are best confirmed upon a visit, the restaurant’s classification as a Ramen restaurant ensures that those seeking a warm, savory bowl of broth and noodles can find their comfort food here.
Moreover, the classification as an Izakaya means the menu is rich with Small Plates designed for sharing and pairing with drinks, perfect for a relaxed Dinner or Late-Night Food outing. The atmosphere is generally described as intimate and trendy, offering a cozy and welcoming space. The business is proud to identify as both Asian-owned and Women-owned, contributing to the vibrant, diverse tapestry of Brooklyn’s local economy. Whether you're planning a full Yakiniku feast, a casual stop for Ramen, or an evening of drinks and Small Plates, Hiyake is positioned as a go-to spot in the Williamsburg dining landscape.

What is Worth Choosing
Hiyake Yakiniku BBQ offers a compelling menu, but what’s truly worth choosing here is the opportunity to indulge in Premium Yakiniku. The high-quality meats, especially the Wagyu, are consistently praised, with some diners specifically highlighting the Wagyu short rib for its exceptional flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Given that the restaurant is fundamentally a Japanese BBQ concept, focusing on the meats and Small plates from their Izakaya offerings will provide the most authentic and signature experience.
The seasonal offerings, such as the Snow Crab Course, demonstrate the kitchen’s capability to work with high-end, fresh seafood ingredients like crab leg sashimi, which one customer found to be "next level" and "perfectly fresh and seasoned." While the preparation and service of complex, multi-course meals can sometimes be inconsistent, the quality of the core ingredients and the interactive grilling experience remain the undisputed highlight.
For local users who came specifically looking for the Ramen restaurant aspect, you are encouraged to inquire about the day's special or standard ramen offerings. While Hiyake is known for its grill, the fact that it proudly includes Ramen in its identity assures a comforting and authentic option is available. This is especially true for those seeking Comfort food or a satisfying late-night meal, as the restaurant offers Late-night food service. Ultimately, Hiyake’s blend of Japanese Barbecue restaurant luxury and casual Ramen availability makes it a uniquely valuable, versatile, and essential dining experience in the bustling Williamsburg neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We visited for their Snow Crab Course but left deeply disappointed. The food quality was poor, and most courses were served out of order. Surprisingly, the hotpot arrived before several other dishes, even though it’s traditionally served last, just before dessert. In the middle of the meal, the waiter tried to tell us that the shiso tempura and crab leg tempura were a single course, despite being listed separately on the menu. After raising this issue, they eventually served them as two courses, but the experience left a sour taste. The restaurant did offer complimentary Wagyu to make up for the situation, and after I complained about the sea urchin portion was minuscule comparing to the pictures posted on the Chinese social media app xiao hong shu, but we declined. After such a disappointing experience with the Snow Crab Course, we didn’t expect the Wagyu to be any better. Moreover, we wanted to share this review without any contingencies.Service was slow, likely due to understaffing, but that’s no excuse for attempting to mislead customers. Overall, the dishes were really unremarkable, and the disorganized management only added to the frustration. The servers were cordial, and the bathroom was clean were the only reasons that I gave two stars.P.s while we were there, there are two other tables having the same snow crab course were also complaining about the food and the slow service. I believe one of the tables accepted the complimentary Wagyu and the other table accepted a discount on their bill.
November 28 · Chen TingIt was such a great experience. Their seasonal snow crab menu is next level. I never had crab leg sashimi before and it was way better than I thought. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. We also added a wagyu short rib and it just melted in my mouth, so so good.
December 05 · Esther LiI recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and I must say, it was a truly unforgettable experience! The Ultimate Yakiniku Set was the star of the show and absolutely blew me away with its exquisite flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. The presentation of the dish was a feast for the eyes, with the perfectly cooked wagyu steak served with a delicious assortment of sides that complemented the dish beautifully. The attention to detail in every aspect of the meal was truly impressive, from the quality of the ingredients to the expert cooking techniques. The service was also outstanding, with the staff being attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout the entire meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was also delightful, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home.Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience. The Ultimate Yakiniku Set is an absolute must-try, and I can't wait to come back and try more of the delicious offerings on the menu. Thank you for a truly unforgettable meal!
February 22 · Yuqing LiQuant little restaurant with the most caring staff and chef. We were the only table there on a Monday afternoon, and the chef took his time to explain to us the cuts of wagyu. Everything was delicious and of great quality. Meets flavors were delicate and very authentic.
February 20 · Angela NMe and couple friends are in Williamsburg area so decided to give this place a try after a good experience at their Chinatown location. This location offers a little different menu, but the service is still excellent. They cook all the meat for me for us, definitely need some skills because the meat are very marble and delicate, if using too much force it looks like they will break apart. We ordered the basic Yakiniku box ($58) which only available Monday to Thursday. Comes with 4 different cuts of meat each 2oz, total 8oz of meat it isn’t a lot but very satisfying. They also have a house salad that’s very refreshing to begin and a matcha crepe cake to finish. Each meat cook differently with different topping hat complement the meat really well to enhance the tastes. Meat are very fresh and fatty. If you are hungry, I highly recommend to try a bigger box.
