Hungryghostcoffee Introduce
In the vibrant landscape of New York's coffee scene, Hungry Ghost Coffee has established itself as a true Brooklyn institution, a place where the art of the perfect brew is taken seriously. Founded in 2012 by Murat Uyaroglu, an immigrant from Istanbul, Turkey, the brand was born from a vision to blend the rich, communal coffeehouse culture he grew up with and the distinct, energetic vibe of Brooklyn. The result is a series of welcoming and lively spaces, each with its own personality, where locals can enjoy not just a cup of coffee but a moment of connection and community.
The philosophy behind Hungry Ghost is simple yet profound: to tirelessly chase the "perfect shot." This obsession with quality is evident in every cup, thanks to an exclusive partnership with Stumptown Coffee Roasters, a leader in the third-wave coffee movement. The coffee beans are roasted right in Brooklyn, ensuring freshness and a deep, complex flavor profile that has earned a loyal following. Whether you prefer a meticulously pulled espresso or a perfectly balanced cold brew, you'll find that Hungry Ghost's baristas are skilled artists dedicated to their craft. Beyond the coffee, the menu includes a great selection of organic teas, providing a delightful alternative for non-coffee drinkers.
Beyond the exceptional drinks, Hungry Ghost Coffee offers a truly inviting atmosphere. The decor is a mix of modern minimalist design with industrial and retro elements, creating a space that feels both clean and lively. While seating can sometimes be limited, the focus is on a high-energy environment where conversation and community thrive. The coffee shop is a popular spot for a quick morning pick-me-up or a peaceful moment of solo dining. It's the kind of place that embodies the spirit of its neighborhood, offering a sense of pride and place for everyone who walks through the door. It's a testament to the idea that a coffee shop can be more than just a place to get a drink; it can be the heart of a community, a hub of creativity and connection.
The Hungry Ghost Coffee location is conveniently nestled in the heart of Carroll Gardens at 343 Smith St, Brooklyn, NY 11231, USA. For those traveling by car, paid street parking is available, which is a common but valuable amenity in this bustling neighborhood. While some customers have noted that the seating options can be limited and the space can get busy with foot traffic, its central location and accessibility make it a straightforward choice for anyone in the area needing a quality coffee fix.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We called in here for a flat white. The coffee actually had good flavour, (they used Stumptown beans) but the flat white had way too much foam to pass as a flat white. Also was presented in a takeaway cup when we were seated inside. Service was pleasant enough & liked the retro vibe of the place
August 19 · Diana WainesOur first stop of the morning to grab coffee. No restrooms for clients. No wifi. The matcha was not the greatest.Coffee was good and strong.Seating options are limited and there was a high traffic of strollers and crying babies. If you’re just passing by and need a beverage it’s a good spot., other than that it isn’t the most accommodating - not how we wanted our morning to start.
July 21 · Monica M.No wifi (this is a benefit!) and lovely people. Pastries are squarely ok. Avoid the scones if you like real scones, these are a bit "puffy".
August 14 · Mary AdamsI got an ice vanilla latte with oat milk, it was good. The barista was very nice.
August 17 · Diana Aguilarabsolute worst coffee I’ve had in my life.$9.44 for a small cup of milk and ice. can’t taste even a hint of espresso.
