What is Worth Choosing
When visiting the IKEA Restaurant in Paramus, certain menu items and benefits are consistently highlighted by local diners as being worth the stop.
The undeniable star of the menu, and the item that draws people in from across New Jersey, is the classic Swedish Meatballs. Served with creamy gravy, mashed potatoes, and a dollop of tart lingonberry jam, this dish is the quintessential IKEA comfort meal. While prices have adjusted over time, it remains a fast, recognizable, and satisfying plate that is considered a must-try for any first-time visitor.
For those seeking a meatless option, the Plant Balls and Veggie Balls are highly recommended alternatives that have developed their own loyal following. Some patrons even argue that the plant-based options, often served with unique sides or sauces, surpass the traditional meatballs in flavor and appeal, demonstrating IKEA's successful push into more sustainable dining.
Another major value highlight, especially for frequent visitors, is the IKEA Family Membership Benefit. Signing up for the free loyalty program instantly grants you a free hot drink (coffee or tea) with every visit to the restaurant. This small perk translates into significant savings over time and makes the restaurant a great place to stop for a quick, affordable break. Additionally, IKEA Family members often have access to deeply discounted meal specials, such as promotional $2.99 meatball or plant ball entrées during special events, which are truly unbeatable in terms of value.
The restaurant's commitment to Kid-Friendly Meals is another reason it's worth choosing for family outings. The children's menu is not only budget-friendly but also offers balanced options that appeal to younger diners, all in an environment where parents can feel relaxed.
Finally, don't overlook the Swedish Food Market, which you pass on the way out. Many customers enjoy picking up frozen versions of the Swedish Meatballs, Plant Balls, and Veggie Medallions to recreate the IKEA experience at home. This is particularly appealing for those who crave the unique Scandinavian flavors but don’t have time for a full restaurant visit every time. Grabbing a pack of frozen cinnamon buns or a bottle of lingonberry syrup is a popular, worthwhile choice that extends the experience beyond the cafeteria.
In summary, whether you are stopping for the iconic meatballs, taking advantage of the free coffee as an IKEA Family member, or simply looking for an affordable, quick, and casual meal for the whole family in Paramus, the IKEA Restaurant continues to be a unique and highly functional dining spot in New Jersey. Its combination of Swedish culinary staples, exceptional value, and family-friendly services makes it a place that is consistently worth choosing.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love this IKEA store but not a fan of the food at all. First time I had eaten here was back in 2018. It was such bland food that I didn’t even try again until today. I was desperate for food and happen to be in IKEA, so it was my only option. Surprisingly I got some ones this time. Chicken tenders, fries, peas were actually pretty good. But the mac & cheese was so tasteless. There was only one server and one cashier, during peak dinner time, causing a huge line at ordering and at checkout.Food hall is pretty nice, lot of spots available. IKEA put some of its own lamps, lights and furniture to highlight their own products. Utensils and condominiums are in common area. But the sauce station was a mess. Some ketchup pumps were broken. Soda fountain was under maintained too.
October 12 · Nehal AhmedDecent food for a furniture store. I usually go for the meatballs or the ribs. Full of sodium but fast meal at an affordable price. Free coffee if you are part of their loyalty program (Ikea Family). The staff here are very friendly but there’s not enough of them.
July 03 · Tommy ChenFirst time trying the Ikea restaurant...last time we visited Ikea, the restaurant was closed due to pandemic restrictions.. Ordered swedish meatballs and Stockholm salad...both were really good..in fact I was quite surprised by how good the Stockholm salad was..And the price is very reasonable.. $14 for both..
March 13 · SonaFriendly staff and decent food to satisfy one’s hunger during shopping at IKEA
December 27 · spoorthi ShresService at the cafe is very underwhelming to say the least. Lone server (short guy with glasses) purposely ducked out as he saw me approach the ordering counter and didn’t come back for 5-10 mins leaving us standing there waiting. Then when another worker asked him to come back to take our breakfast order, he promptly informed me that he didn’t have any more waffles, which constituted half the medium breakfast offering and that there was no substituting of another item without an extra charge. Mind you this was less than an hour after cafe opening. On top of that he was very rude in his approach. It just seems that they are out of an item nearly every time I come here. A reflection of a poorly-run operation that could use some improvement and accountability.
