★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Awesome spot! Everyone is really friendly. I go here with a diverse group of friends and we’ve never had any issue! So don’t be concerned by the group that cursed at the doorman, didn’t get in , then left dozens of bad reviews accusing them of being racist and homophobic. I normally go with 3 friends, some of us are gay and we are multi racial and it is a non issue. The staff is all really nice and it is a super friendly positive crowd. Just good vibes and dancing.
September 07 · Dylan BI made a reservation here for my birthday party which would allow my friends and I to skip the line, however when we showed up Jake at the door immediately told us we were not allowed in because we were not in “dress code”. He told us the dress code says “no glitter, no hair stuff, and no face paint”. I had glitter makeup on my cheeks, a birthday tiara, and some fun eyeliner. When we asked him to show us the dress code he had no physical proof. Not on the website, social media, and the other bouncer could not provide anything either. So he looked at us and made up a dress code on the spot because he did not like how we looked. I exchanged 7 emails with the event coordinator and none of them mentioned any kind of dress code. He also told us this bar “is for basic people”, - his direct words. My friends and I are all visibly queer and some of the people with me were people of color. It is clear this bar is trying to uphold a straight, white image. Do not come here. Jake at the door is racist and homophobic, and overall not a nice person. If you don’t believe me, look at the rest of the reviews where people have posted his face saying similar claims.update for owners response: so all of these reviews of different instances and nights are lying about your awful behavior? i highly doubt that. get off your power trip and check yourself
August 12 · jenna karnatskiI have nothing but positive things to say about Jewel Box, a great new addition to lower Manhattan for anyone in there 20s looking for a fun night out. They also host events and the owner, Jake, is super receptive to requests and also very knowledgable about the going out scene. Great venue, great drinks, great music, great crowd. This has definitely become one of my go-to spots on a Fri/Sat night.
June 17 · Benji WeinsteinAfter multiple emails between my friend and the “events coordinator”, my friend was very excited AND READY to come to this place for her birthday. The exchanges on email consisted of them confirming the party, date, and accommodations so from her perspective, everything seemed right. That was until she encountered the bouncer where he denied her and her entire group because “they were wearing body glitter and had hair accessories” which btw was a tiara because it was her birthday ….. after asking him to show proof of this dress code, he just kept creating excuses after excuses after failing to show any proof of this made up dress code…. I’ve been to many clubs in the city and have never heard once about body glitter ???? Being an issue. Please do not here
July 27 · juliana garciaI recently celebrated my 25th birthday at Jewel Box and it was the most amazing experience! I rented the front room for the event, and it was the perfect choice as it even had a photo booth which my friends loved.Coordinating the event with the manager and owner was a breeze, and the whole process felt seamless. The atmosphere at Jewel Box was fantastic, and the music played by the DJ created the perfect dancing vibe. The bartenders were nice and the drinks were great. They were also incredibly accommodating with my cake and decorations.I had an amazing time, and I would recommend Jewel Box for anyone looking to host a private party. I’ll definitely be back for future events!!
