Choosing Little Zelda is a decision to embrace a truly local, independent cafe experience. The appeal lies in its genuine neighborhood charm and its commitment to serving a great cup of coffee. The friendly staff and cozy atmosphere create an environment where you feel at home, which is a rare find in a bustling city like New York. However, it is important for potential customers to be aware of the cafe's past. A customer review points to "numerous health violations over the years," including issues related to cleanliness and pest control. These concerns have been noted in public health records, and some patrons have expressed disappointment in what they perceive as a lack of attention to health and safety standards.
Despite these past issues, the cafe continues to attract a loyal following due to its unique character and the quality of its drinks. Its status as a "go-to cafe" for many locals speaks to its strong community connection. For visitors and residents who prioritize a unique, artistic, and community-focused atmosphere, Little Zelda might still be a compelling choice, particularly for its excellent coffee and tea. For those who prioritize cleanliness and health standards above all, it may be prudent to exercise caution. The decision to visit ultimately rests on weighing the cafe’s welcoming vibe and quality products against its history of health-related challenges.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Love this gem. My go to cafe in the neighborhood. The staff are always very nice though the quality of coffee depends on who the barista is. It's small but the vibe is great, full of creativity and community engagement in a limited space. They have the most variety of milk that I've known of. I am a bit sad they are no longer open at night since I used to enjoy a late night coffee.
June 06 · Nai-Hua ChenCoffee with an Attitude! I live in the neighborhood and enjoyed a cup of coffee here many times when there were few other options on Franklin Ave. But this place seems to have developed an attitude towards health and safety of its customers. There have been numerous health violations over the years and not much has been done. Come on! It's not that hard to keep food surfaces clean and prevent rat infestations in a small coffee shop!
June 01 · FelixI love the atmosphere, the food and, most of all, the service. Reminds me of a little café I visited while in Paris with my wife, but with a very charming Brooklyn touch. If you’re lucky, Zelda herself might be manning the register. Be sure to say hi; one day, when you see her accepting a Tony, you’ll be able to say that you met her before she became famous.
May 02 · Gregory CarvajalDelightful every time! I've been going to Little Zelda for years when I am in town and each time I'm astonished what fun it is.The friendliest baristas and the best coffee and pastries, year after year. Love it.
May 01 · Julie DickmannThis place is a neighborhood institution for a reason. Great coffee, friendly baristas, and a cute charming vibe. Iced cortado is always on point and the punchcard system is very cool. Support your local coffee shops and not the chains.
