What is Worth Choosing
For New Yorkers who value authentic flavor, community support, and honest value, Lucky's is the clear choice. This is not a trendy, overpriced establishment; it's a neighborhood staple—the kind of "hole in the wall" spot, as one reviewer noted, where you know the food is prepared with care and tradition. Choosing Lucky's means investing in a **Black-owned local business** that delivers consistent, high-quality, authentic Jamaican cuisine.
The number one reason to visit is to experience the rave-worthy signature dishes. If you're coming for lunch or dinner, you must try the Oxtail. Served with rice, this dish is the heart of their operation and is frequently mentioned as a standout item. For a quick, affordable, and flavorful bite, the classic Jamaican Beef or Chicken Patties are perfect for grabbing on the go.
Also worth choosing are the unique and refreshing beverages. Skip the standard soda and opt for a homemade selection like the Carrot Juice ($4.00) or the traditional Sorrel ($4.00). These are flavorful additions that complete the authentic Caribbean meal experience.
While the atmosphere is casual and "nothing fancy," the focus remains firmly on the food. New York diners appreciate the transparency of a place that prioritizes flavor and reasonable prices. Although there have been consistent customer pleas for improved delivery containers to keep their food from arriving messily—a sign of the high demand and popularity—the overwhelming consensus is that the food tastes great, which is the ultimate measure of any successful bakery or restaurant in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was in the area and I did a search for Caribbean food. I clicked on this place and saw that they had a 4.6/5. I clicked on the review section and the first one that I read said that’s it’s the best she’s ever had in NY, then went on to specify that the Oxtail specifically is what she was raving about. Turns out that’s exactly what I was in the mood for. I went there around 1:30pm on a Wednesday, it wasn’t crowded at all. Nothing fancy inside or out but it’s a tad about a hole in the wall. I ordered the Oxtail with white rice and I ordered their in-house fruit punch. It was already bottled and sealed. A nice older lady served me and she was very polite. The other two men that worked alongside her seemed very nice as well. The Oxtail was really good but it’s not the best that I had in NY. However I do feel comfortable recommending it to people. Parking is a pain, because there is some sort of collision repair nearby, and they have all their cars taking up the parking spots
July 31 · Ray CampbellFood tastes great. Prices are reasonable. My only two issues:1.) Every time I come in here they never have Rasta Pasta whether I come in early morning or later in the day 😭 So it would be more honest to take that off the menu altogether.2.) They need better containers. My food always arrive messily. The bag is soaked and ready to fall apart. Please change containers.Update 8/25/2025:Months have passed and the food still arrives a mess. Food taste great. PLEASE change the containers.
August 25 · ZiaThe best Jamaican food I’ve had in NY!!!! Best oxtail to be specific! Meat is so tender and falls off the bone. Super saucy and the rice and beans are perfection. The cabbage is shredded nicely and very well-seasoned too. I’d also recommend the beef patty, chicken patty, dumplings, Mac and cheese and sorrel! Amazing quality Forma great price. Only going to Lucky’s from now now!!
May 28 · DeeWas recommended to go here a couple of weeks ago by a friend who lives nearby and always Door Dash from here. Ordered the escovitch meal and fried whiting for my daughter. The whiting never made it home 😊 It was crunchy and very well seasoned. My daughter ate it all in the car. Thank you to the server for giving her good pieces. The escovitch, I should've gotten a large. It was so good. Definitely a much different and better taste that what I am used to in Queens. I will definitely be back
September 05 · Cheryl EppesA coworker / friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident on our way to another location where we work. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised! I had THE BEST JAMAICAN BEEF PATTY I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! He had whiting fish and he said it was absolutely delicious! The customer service was top notch as well!
