What is Worth Choosing
Mochiron Izakaya is truly worth choosing because it masterfully combines three distinct, high-demand Japanese dining concepts—Ramen, Japanese Curry, and Izakaya—under one cozy and authentic roof in Astoria. For the New York local, this means unmatched variety without sacrificing quality. You don't have to decide between a steaming bowl of noodles or a savory, rich rice dish; you can have both, or a selection of appetizers to graze on during a happy hour.
The Mochiron Ramen is a must-try, often described as having a "rich, comforting, flavorful" broth—like a "hug in broth form." However, the Katsu Curry and Chashu Don are equally celebrated staples, with the pork on the latter being noted for being "so thick, tender and tasty." The authenticity of the vibe, which makes you feel "like in Japan," combined with the kind, fast, and welcoming service, elevates the experience beyond a simple meal to a "quietly magical" escape.
Ultimately, New Yorkers should choose Mochiron Izakaya for a delicious, reliable source of Japanese comfort food that is perfectly suited for modern urban life—offering quick takeout, convenient delivery, and a comfortable, fully accessible place to dine-in for any mood or occasion, from a solo lunch to a group hang-out with cocktails.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I walked into Mochiron Izakaya alone on a warm Tuesday. The place was empty like my stomach… at first. But somehow, the moment I sat down, the energy shifted. Within minutes, the restaurant was full. What can I say? I attract good vibes and hungry people.I ordered from the lunch menu, a bowl of ramen to warm my aching soul, and it delivered. Rich, comforting, flavorful. Like a hug in broth form. It came with side salad and dumplings. The decor? Adorable, cozy, authentically Japanese with a touch of whimsy. The service? Fast, kind, and welcoming. The food? Absolutely delicious. The experience? Quietly magical.Highly recommend for a solo escape or a cozy catch-up. Mochiron... I'll be back.
