★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered a carrot cake for an event and was deeply disappointed. While the interior was mildly acceptable, the outer layer tasted stale and refrigerator-burned, as if it had been sitting in storage for far too long. For a professional bakery, selling a cake that clearly isn’t fresh is inexcusable.Desserts should feel special—not like an afterthought pulled from the back of a cooler. This experience makes it hard to trust the quality here, and I hope they take more care before more customers are let down.
July 19 · LaGata LuneWarning ⚠️ about the banana 🍌 pudding that I purchased on 7/10/25. They sold me SPOILED EXPIRED puddings. They smelled really bad like rotten milk 🤮 I was upset because not only was the smell bad but the pudding was visibly lumping and bumping. They keep expired food inside their fridge until an unsuspecting customer comes in and buys it 🤢 That is a health hazard and should be handled appropriately. SHAME ON YOU Mrs.Maxwells for selling expired food!!!!!!!!
July 11 · Kiara Ramosincredibly frustrating—and honestly, unacceptable for any bakery, especially one trading on a trusted name like “Maxwell.” Getting a molded cake, especially on a birthday, ruins the moment and creates a real health risk. And then to receive no apology, explanation, or goodwill gesture? That just adds insult to injury. This is not giving OG Maxwell from back in the days .. it’s more of a Maxwell imposter!!!!!!!!!!!
June 01 · Star LNEVER AGAIN! Ordered one color, received another. Changes had to be made. The cake was dry and hard in some places. The frosting was disappointing! The bakery is a "Hole in the Wall" The staff looked like (SYEP) summer youth workers in training. They didn't have on any gloves, hats or aprons! It's NOT the same. Beware, you've been warned. RUN, away from this place. I had to see for myself. SHAME ON YOU FOR IMPERSONATING A BAKERY!!
August 10 · Joyce PrioleauI was super excited about my one of my childhood favorite cake spots returning. My sister worked there about 25 years ago and brought home many treats, cakes and custards so we tried them all.On June 26th I came into the new bakery to that nostalgic smell and instantly got pumped for what I thought would be an everlasting relationship between I and Maxwells Bakery. NOOOOTTTTTT!!!!!! I ordered a classic whipped cream yellow cake with blue and white trimming for my mom's 69th birthday. I went with the 10 inch round because I didn't want any leftover cake. First thing wrong...My box did not include the Maxwell sticker on it that I looked forward to seeing. May seem little to you but big to me. Second, when she brought the cake out to show me, it was smaller than I thought. The layers are much thinner than I remember. Let's say it was a three layer cake but should have been 2 layers. The cake literally looked like one of the display cakes in the window. Yea... Third, the penmanship looked terrible. I told the young lady that too. This looks awful. I had imagined the cake to have them cute candy roses on them..nope. Just threw that terrible looking Happy 69th birthday on it. No hearts, style, nothing to make it look jazzy. Once she put it in the box, she put tape on it and asked if I wanted the string as if that shouldn't have been standard. Give me extra security to walk to my car with my cake. I mean it didn't have any weight on it at all. It was almost like I was walking out with a box of cookies weight wise. It was crazy to me as well that I was unable to get candles. They didn't have them. Now show up to party with cake in hand and everyone wants to know where the cake came from. Nowadays we shop our place is our local wholesalers where the box is distinct or they have their label. The excitement that Maxwell is back made everyone so excited until it was time to eat it. Lord.... Cutting the cake I already knew. The knife went in and I almost thought the cake was semi frozen. No way was the thoughts running through my head. This cake even feels terrible not only look. The 3rd layer stuck to the bottom of the cake plate so bad. That's really how I noticed it was three layers. That cake was hard as all hell. I licked my fingers to taste the cream. I was so mad that it taste like I had a sugar free cake for a diabetic. It was not sweet at all. It was like they threw this cake together and sold it to me. Livid I was. This was a mistake cake. Had to be. Now I try the cake from the pieces that were stuck on the bottom from that third layer. NO MOISTURE AT ALL!!!! I was on fire. Now everybody looking at me like there's no way this is from Maxwell. This girl lied about that. I literally had to show them my receipt because they could no believe this cake.In conclusion, Maxwell bakery meant entirely too much to us for them to bring it back and it be this bad. They have the nerve to be pricey. I would have rathered mosied on down to BJs or Shoprite and got a cake which I know would've been moist and sweet and would've cost at least half of what I spent for a whole sheet cake. I'm so disappointed. Ruined my Mom's birthday with that shitty cake...
