New Peking offers a broad menu, but certain items truly stand out and have earned the loyalty of local New Yorkers. Based on customer recommendations and menu specialties, here are a few dishes that are definitely worth trying.
The House Special Fried Rice is a must-try, described by one customer as an "instant plate for dinner," generously filled with a mix of pork, chicken, shrimp, and beef. This is an excellent choice for a hearty, flavorful meal. For those who prefer seafood, upgrading to the large shrimps in the fried rice is a noted favorite.
Another highly recommended dish is the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings. These delicate pockets of flavor are praised for their fresh taste and are perfectly complemented by the savory sauce provided. A pro tip from a local expert is to cut the dumplings in half before adding the sauce to allow the flavor to truly soak in.
For fans of protein and fried dishes, the Fried Pork Chops have been a popular order for years, even enticing bites from those who usually order other items. Additionally, the menu of Lunch Specials offers incredible value. Favorites from this list include the General Tso's or Sesame Chicken and the classic Pepper Steak W. Onion, providing satisfying portions for a modest price.
Ultimately, the value of choosing New Peking lies in the perfect combination of consistent, delicious food, excellent value, and the kind of friendly, personal service that makes a place feel like home. Whether you need a quick, delicious dinner after a long day or a fulfilling lunch to power your afternoon, New Peking on Washington Avenue remains Brooklyn’s go-to for Chinese comfort food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have lived in the neighborhood for 26 years and have know this restaurant from then to now the food has always been delicious the lady is very nice and she remembers who you are even if you call on the phone I have seen her kids grow up when they would be here the menu now has many new and exciting dishes my person favorite has been the house special fry rice you get a bet of pork, chicken, shrimps and beef you add some soy sauce and hot sauce and it's an instant plate for dinner or shrimp fry rice I personally pay for the large shrimps rather than the small. My husband likes the fry pork chops and yes I have taken a few bites from him, but my new thing now is the steam shrimp dumplings oh boy and with the sauce they give you its oh la la but my secret is before I add the sauce I cut them in half so it really soaks up the sauce. Look if you're in the mood try any of my favorites or seek out what you like as I said the menu has new dishes and their food is delicious they also do delivery or if your like me and live close by its and easy pick up.
March 24 · DSNAmazing food at a great price and really friendly staff
June 14 · kenneth hollandThe General Tso is solid here. Crispy in a nice way. Sauce is sweet and tangy. Rice is always good. The broccoli is good. I haven’t had anything else but prices are good and it’s run by nice people.
February 04 · Kian FallahiI noticed is been 2 years sence new pekings last review. And the 5 stars still holds firm. Consistency in food, hospitality, freshness, portioning and pricing has kept new peking the best chinese resteraunt in flatbush
August 14 · deonte petersenNEW Review - Reduced my review after visiting. Restaurant needs a deep clean overhaul. It's shockingly glum and filthy. Not a restaurant I would trust or patronize from walking by. When ordered delivery, food was always delicious and fresh. However, seeing how unsanitary and gloomy the place feels, won't order again.OLD Review - A relative ordered delivery, so can't attest to the condition or smell of restaurant. I had brown fried rice, broccoli, and sauce ($7.50). Delivered quickly and tasted delicious - fresh and nicely flavored.
