Palmyra Restaurant Brooklyn Introduce
Palmyra Restaurant Brooklyn stands as a truly unique culinary destination in the heart of the Gravesend neighborhood, right on the bustling stretch of Coney Island Avenue. This establishment distinguishes itself by offering an expansive and highly eclectic menu that predominantly features authentic Central Asian cuisine, while also venturing into global favorites, notably with a full range of sushi and rolls. For New Yorkers looking to explore the savory, hearty, and aromatic flavors of Central Asia—a cuisine that draws heavily on traditional methods and ingredients like lamb, beef, noodles, and dumplings—Palmyra provides a rich and accessible experience.
The restaurant’s extensive offering is a testament to its commitment to variety and quality. Diners can embark on a flavorful journey, starting with traditional soups like Shurpa or Uigurian Lagman, and moving on to the main courses that are the cornerstone of Central Asian cooking. Signature dishes like the slow-cooked rice and meat masterpiece Plov, the steamed meat dumplings known as Manti, and the baked savory pastries called Samsa are all featured prominently. Furthermore, the selection of Shish Kebab, featuring various cuts of meat like Lamb, Beef Tenderloin, and Chicken Loin, cooked to perfection on skewers, promises a delightful experience for meat lovers.
In a surprising, yet appealing, twist to its menu, Palmyra also offers a comprehensive selection of Sushi and Rolls, blending international flair with its core Central Asian identity. This unique combination ensures that whether a customer is in the mood for traditional comfort food or a fresh seafood roll, they will find something to satisfy their palate. With offerings ranging from hearty stews and kebabs to lighter salads and a dedicated sushi section, Palmyra is a versatile option for lunch and dinner in Brooklyn.
The culinary style at Palmyra Restaurant Brooklyn is primarily rooted in Central Asian Cuisine, specifically reflecting the traditions of countries like Uzbekistan and the surrounding regions. This is evident in the inclusion of classic dishes that are foundational to this part of the world. Central Asian food is characterized by its use of sheep fat and a rich blend of spices like cumin, dill, and coriander. The cooking often centers on slow-cooked dishes, hearty noodle soups, and skewered meats cooked over fire, known as shashlyk or shish kebab.
The appetizers and first courses on the menu are a great introduction to this cuisine. Options like Shurpa, a savory broth with lamb and vegetables, and Uigurian Lagman, hand-pulled noodles with beef and vegetables, showcase the traditional emphasis on nourishing, flavorful soups. The Second Course is where the heart of Central Asian cooking truly shines, with staples such as Plov, a rice dish cooked with meat and carrots, and Manti, the signature steamed dumplings filled with seasoned meat and onions. These dishes represent the comforting, fulfilling nature of the region's food.
Complementing the Central Asian fare, the menu also incorporates a broad spectrum of dishes from other culinary traditions, including a variety of Salads that range from the regional Achuchuk to the universally recognized Caesar's. Most notably, the presence of a substantial Sushi / Rolls menu—featuring items like Hot Salmon, Roll Philadelphia, and various California rolls—positions Palmyra as a remarkably diverse, pan-global eatery. This blend makes it a compelling choice for groups with varied tastes, all looking for a casual dining experience in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've called to restaurant to reserve a table for the birthday party but it was unsuccessful. The person who was on phone with me was asking if I can speak Russian after that he just hang up the phone without listening to me. I tried to call second and third time but no answer at all. That's a terrible when the staff of the restaurant doesn't have professional attitude to the customer who is going to pay to them. Don't waste your money for this restaurant.
