PEP Bakehouse and Coffee Shop Introduce
When New Yorkers talk about their local coffee shop, they’re not just looking for a caffeine fix; they’re searching for a destination—a place that offers comfort, quality, and a genuine connection to the community. PEP Bakehouse and Coffee Shop, nestled in the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, is precisely that kind of establishment. It stands out as an artisanal bakery and café, a true gem where the art of the baker’s craft meets the meticulous science of specialty coffee.
This family-owned bakehouse prides itself on being a modern version of a French patisserie, translating European elegance into a distinctly Brooklyn experience. They are fiercely dedicated to quality, incorporating only fresh, local, and natural ingredients into their entire product line. This commitment means that every croissant, every cake, and every cookie is made fresh daily in their Brooklyn production facilities, completely free of additives or preservatives. This focus on purity and freshness ensures a delightful experience that patrons can immediately taste and appreciate.
Beyond the exquisite pastries, PEP Bakehouse has become a neighborhood favorite for its welcoming atmosphere, which successfully blends aesthetics with flavor. The spacious interior, adorned with abstract artwork and often complemented by calming jazz music, creates a tranquil and visually appealing environment. It's the ideal setting for a variety of needs: a quiet spot for solo dining or working on a laptop, a cozy backdrop for meeting friends, or a quick, quality stop before starting a long trip or running errands around the city. From the moment you walk in, the shop invites you to slow down, savor your coffee, and enjoy a freshly baked delicacy, offering a much-needed break from the city's relentless pace.
The success of PEP Bakehouse is rooted in its dual expertise. While the ‘Bakehouse’ side continually impresses with flawless French macarons, eclairs, and magnificent cakes that have become absolute crowd-pleasers at New York gatherings, the ‘Coffee Shop’ component is equally rigorous. The baristas tirelessly select their beans—a specific blend of Colombian, Guatemalan, Ethiopian, and Kenyan coffees—to ensure that every espresso-based drink delivers a light, sweet, and perfectly balanced cup. For New Yorkers who appreciate a thoughtfully crafted morning ritual, PEP Bakehouse offers a standout experience.

PEP Bakehouse and Coffee Shop Reviews
A quick & convenient stop before hopping on the Verrazano. We snagged street parking right in front. Staff was very friendly. Everything looks amazing. If we weren't on a long trip I would have got some of the desserts. The food and drinks we got were all good quality and yummy!Items ordered: iced oat milk caramel latte, iced coffee, plain croissant, pistachio croissant (must try!), spinach bistro (yum!)
July 17 · Nicole QuadroneThis unsuspecting coffee shop is a hidden gem for delicious cakes! I randomly stumbled into PEP for a matcha, but I left with a vanilla hazelnut cake for a potluck I had later that evening (it’s the white cake with macaroon on top). While I planned to go to another fancy pastry shop in the neighborhood, I’m glad I stumbled into PEP. The cake was an absolute crowd pleaser! 3 people asked me where I got it and they loved the light and airy textures with bites of cake/crunch.Additionally, the employee working the counter was lovely and helpful! Luckily, the shop had extra paper plates and utensils for me to bring to the potluck. Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back :).
April 28 · Tracy ShuComplaint Regarding Repeatedly Poor Customer ServiceDear PEP BAKEHOUSE & COFFEE SHOPI am writing to bring to your attention repeated negative customer service experiences I have had with a staff member at your 9413 Third AveBrooklyn, NY 11209United States location. On 09/02/2025, I arrived at the shop at 6:55 a.m., unaware that it was not yet open. A staff member who is regularly on duty during my visits told me—very abruptly and without greeting—that the shop was closed. When I politely asked what time the shop would open, she replied “7 o’clock” in a similarly rude tone. When I returned at 7:00 a.m., the same staff member again displayed unprofessional behavior. She did not greet me as I entered, did not acknowledge my order when I placed it, and after preparing my coffee, placed it on the counter in a noticeably dismissive and unpleasant manner rather than handing it to me.Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. I have had multiple unpleasant interactions with this same staff member over time, and friends of mine who also frequent your shop have shared similar negative experiences. As a regular customer, I find this repeated behavior unacceptable, especially as it creates an unwelcoming start to my day.I value your coffee and the atmosphere your shop is known for, but I believe customer service is just as important as product quality. I hope this matter will be addressed promptly so that all customers are treated with courtesy and respect.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you regarding any steps that will be taken.Sincerely,
September 02 · Rushana KhalilovaI’m giving all 5s on the review, but I didn't eat there—I grabbed an iced coffee during my day showing properties in the area. As a local realtor, I needed that pick-me-up, and being in Bay Ridge, I could have gone to a name brand, but I wanted to support local businesses. I was not disappointed! The staff was super friendly, and the coffee was very tasty. It gave me the pep I needed. Thanks again!
July 05 · Thomas P Smith NY REAL ESTATEI was looking for a good local coffee shop within walking distance of where I'm staying and Pep seem to fit the bill. It is a tiny little hole in the wall of a place But super cute with a small but beautiful selection of pastries. I ordered a cherry almond croissant and a chai latte. I was super happy with both. The croissant was beautiful and flaky with the perfect amount of filling. My chai was good if a tad sweet. I would definitely come back to try some more of their pastry selections.
