Widely celebrated by local users and the community as the “Best Colombian bakery in all of NYC,” this establishment is much more than just a place to grab a quick pastry; it is a vital cultural touchstone for the local community and a must-visit for food lovers across the city.
Rico Pan Bakery specializes in traditional Colombian baked goods and savory snacks, offering patrons a taste of home that is consistently described as “authentic” and of uncompromising quality, a reputation that has been maintained since its founding in the 1990s. The owner, originally from Medellin, ensures every item embodies the rich culinary heritage of Colombia. The atmosphere is centered around a “quick visit” model, making it perfectly suited for the busy New Yorker on the go who prioritizes quality and authenticity.
The menu is a delightful showcase of Colombian staples, famously including savory favorites like empanadas, chorizo, and chicharron, alongside sweet baked items like pandebonos (cheese bread) and buñuelos (fried dough fritters). The constant praise for the food, the longevity of its quality, and its status as a gathering spot for an authentic Colombian “Breakfast” cement Rico Pan Bakery as an essential Queens institution.
Location and Accessibility
Rico Pan Bakery is located at 58-13 Woodside Ave, Flushing, NY 11377, USA. While the address indicates Flushing, the bakery is situated right on Woodside Avenue, placing it in the dynamic and well-connected neighborhood of Woodside, Queens, known for its deep Latin American community and excellent transit options.
The location on Woodside Avenue means it is easily reachable for locals in Woodside and Elmhurst, and it serves as a highly accessible destination for those venturing from other boroughs. Being near major transit corridors is a key advantage for New York residents. This section of Queens is typically well-served by MTA buses, and is often within a manageable walking distance or short transit ride from key subway and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) stops that connect to the rest of the city and Long Island.
For residents, its position near the intersection of Woodside and 58th Street makes it a highly convenient spot for grabbing a quick and authentic breakfast or snack on the way to work, or for a deliberate weekend visit to stock up on fresh baked goods. Despite the high quality, customers note that finding a small spot for breakfast is easy and “worth going out of your way” to visit, even if you are traveling from outside Queens.

January 16 · mt_legend _10 (mt_legend_10)Been going here since the 90s and the quality has never let up. Absolutely the best Colombian baked goods and snacks like empanadas, chorizo and chicharron. It helps to go with someone that speaks Spanish and is familiar with Colombian food but absolutely not required. Worth going out of your way even if you aren't in Queens.
November 11 · Alex RI love going to different Colombian bakeries! I’ve only gone here to pickup something but never got to eat until yesterday. I decided to get my go to’s: Beef empanada, chorizo with potato and a Jugo de lulo. Even though jts summer I still got an Avena homemade and warmed up in the micro. Tasted so good and my mother got beef empanadas, arepa de choclo with cheese and coffee. I loved the food. Wasn’t dry, over cooked or undercooked! Next time I will def. try their bread! Colombian bakeries have the best bread well in my opinion!
July 15 · CrystalPlaces like this are what make New York the best city in the world. A family-run institution for like half a century at this point. We've been going here practically every day for years and it never gets old.Everything is spectacular, but if it's your first time, get the pandebono. Savory pastries and hot food are refilled periodically throughout the day, so odds are the one you get will be piping hot and still a little gooey in the middle. It's one of the best bites of bread you'll ever have. Other standouts are the empanadas (especially the cheese and baked chicken ones), chicharrones de guayaba, and bunuelos (esp. when they're hot and fresh). There's also dope seasonal stuff, like the torta de pescado. Just the best. Staff is lovely too.
August 31 · M MA very modern and clean bakery. Ordered a couple of pastries for breakfast the next day and had a beef empanada to go which was still warm and delicious. In all, we spent less than ten bucks. We went in the evening where alot of the pastries items were already sold, so better to go in the morning when their is more variety to choose from.
