Roots Steakhouse Introduce
Roots Steakhouse in Ridgewood, New Jersey, stands as a premier destination for those seeking a classic, high-quality steakhouse experience right here in the Garden State. Located in the charming downtown of Ridgewood, this establishment is part of a duo of "clubby" chophouses known for doing all the "important things well." It’s an old-fashioned, New York-style steakhouse that has successfully brought its blend of traditional ambiance and superior cuisine to North Jersey diners.
The philosophy at Roots Steakhouse centers on delivering an unparalleled dining experience. This starts with the star of the show: their steaks. Diners can expect delicious USDA-aged prime beef, which is sourced from the highest quality ranches in the Midwest. The term "prime" is a quality grade given by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to describe beef that excels in tenderness, juiciness, and flavor, representing the top 2% of cattle. Roots prides itself on only serving center-cut beef, expertly cooked at a scorching 1800 degrees to ensure a perfect sear and an unforgettable taste.
Beyond the beef, Roots Steakhouse offers a complete upscale dining environment. The interior features rich leather booths, a lavish oak bar, and brass accents, all contributing to a true, high-testosterone, 1930s and '40s retro steakhouse ambiance. This blend of classic charm and contemporary elegance makes it an ideal setting for any occasion, whether it’s a power business dinner, a romantic date, or a special family celebration. The warm, inviting, and upscale atmosphere is often complimented by a professional and attentive staff, which helps to make dinner a truly civilized experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had the pleasure of dining at Roots this past week. The appetizers, entrees and cocktails were excellent. As one of my favorite dishes, I ordered the Beef Wellington. The entree was perfectly prepared to medium temperature without soiling the arid crispy texture of the surrounding dough. The chef achieved this without the use of too much salt which is always a bit tricky. Well done team.A small note on management. It is upon rare occasion where I encounter a manager of any establishment that maintains such a singular performance as Larry. His attention to detail, and commitment to the success of the establishment should be commended. I do so hope the owners of Roots are aware of what a gem they have in their possession.
April 12 · A WBeautiful spot, right in the heart of ridgewood. We went just on an offbeat night. Very nice spot great location parking is a little bit of a pain so be sure to park in the lot behind the restaurant. It’s on a nice little strip there’s other things to do, but you won’t want to go anywhere else this place has it all. Be sure to ask for Jenna she was our server and she was amazing. She knew the menu front to back and was very honest with what we inquired about. The staff was super sweet, personable and professional. We had a great time the drinks were also good try an espresso martini really made perfectly there’s a wide menu selection from drinks to food to salads and apps to deserts truly something for everyone you can find it here.
February 23 · C RodriguezHad a wonderful time here.Service: Top notch. We had two kids and staff were so friendly and accommodating.Food: Everything was good. Our steak was delicious. They surprised our birthday person with a giant Sunday and that was amazing.Atmosphere: Give a bit of Wall Street restaurant vibes. Some cool art.
September 09 · Rosemary MuñozThe food is good, better than the Summit and the Morristown locations. The service definitely needs training. Your experience begins when you walk in and that’s where they should start. Guests are expecting polite and courteous - that is the bare minimum, which was not my most recent experience. Also, felt rushed from the moment we walked in. To be fair, my past experiences here were usually always good.
September 28 · ChrisMy wife and I have been here for dinner several times and I think it’s one of the best, if not the best restaurant in town. The other nite we popped for a drink and some apps at the bar. Our bartender was Frankie and he couldn’t have been nicer. We had the sliders and if there’s a better slider out there, I haven’t had it. They were simply delicious. Juicy, flavorful and just the right size. Bonus: there are no TVs at the bar. So we sat and had a really nice conversation with one another. It was fantastic catching up with her without a million distractions. Note to management: Not having TVs is a genius move. Thank you for not being like virtually every other bar on the planet.
