What is Worth Choosing
For New Jersey locals visiting Sababa Grill, the real value is found in the combination of authentic flavor, quality ingredients, and the restaurant’s commitment to its specialized offerings.
You should start with one of the main courses that define the authentic Israeli-Middle Eastern experience. The Schawarma is a signature dish, perfectly seasoned and fire-roasted, and can be enjoyed as an entrée or in a fresh laffa sandwich. Similarly, the Schnitzel—crispy, tender, and always satisfying—is a classic choice that appeals to all ages. For those looking for something a bit more robust, the Lamb Shishlik is a highly praised item, known for its superb flavor and quality, and the Ground Beef Kebab offers a rich, savory alternative.
Beyond the main meats, the restaurant's commitment to quality side dishes and appetizers is truly what sets it apart. Ordering one of the Sandwiches—perhaps the Schawafel (a combo of schawarma and falafel) or the Danny’s Special (schawarma with fried onion, jalapeño, hummus, and Israeli salad)—is an excellent choice for a quick and filling lunch. Be sure to explore the wide variety of Salatim, which are fresh, homemade, and ideal for mixing and matching to accompany your main dish. The Stuffed Grape Leaves are a particular highlight, known for being delicious and difficult to find under reliable kosher certification in the area.
Finally, for those who observe, the specialty Weekend Takeout (Shabbat Menu) is a service that is worth choosing, offering a curated selection of ready-to-eat deli-style mains like Oyster Steak, Moroccan Salmon, and various slow-cooked dishes like Chulent. This service saves time on Friday afternoons and ensures a high-quality, authentic meal for the entire weekend, reflecting Sababa Grill's role as a true community resource in Teaneck, NJ.

September 28 · Daniel SayaniThere were no public restrooms available here. I wonder if I'm no longer part of the "public" once I pay. I didn't have to go, but I'd like to think that Sababa Grill would let me use their restroom after spending over $50. I'm a pretty clean and cheap restroom goer. I don't use much toilet paper and try to flush as little as possible while also being mindful of clogging. I clean up any mess that I leave behind. Sometimes I'll even clean up another person's mess. It's not out of the goodness of my heart. It's mostly out of fear that I walk out and there is someone that goes in right after me. I don't want them to think that I was the person that made the mess. All I'm trying to say is that I'm good at going to the restroom, but I wasn't always like this. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've made a mess of some restrooms. I knew I needed to stop when I recognized how upset I would get when someone else would leave a mess behind. I was being a complete hypocrite. Anyway, I wanted Sababa Grill to know that if they let me use their restroom, I would have left it spotless. Also the food from here was absolutely delicious.
July 20 · Luke SchmidtFood is amazing. Tomer is the great and nice. We cater with them every Friday at work and it never disappoints. Highly recommend
August 22 · David BardavidWe have used Sababa several times to cater shul events for 200+ people. We keep coming back for more bc the response is consistently so positive - people always ask, “where is this delicious food from??!!” Danny is great to work with and the food is homey, tasty, and plentiful. We will definitely be back again and again!!
