★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We missed the place at first because Sagara Food City also operates as a grocery mart. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the Staten Island ferryWe had the special rice and curry platter (which contained greens, mushrooms, fish, and eggs) along with the coconut roti. With two drinks, the total cost was under $25, which really shows how stuffed we were while getting the most of our money’s worth.Great tastes!
August 20 · Vincent PhamNever had Sri Lankan food before and wanted to try it while in Staten Island visiting a friend. Got the chicken lamprais. Was so delicious. I loved the variety of foods and flavors inside. Portion was quite large which was great to save for dinner. There were no tables inside like I saw in photos, but was fine, I went down the street and found a place to sit and enjoy lunch. Definitely recommend, yum! Friendly service as well.
August 06 · Matt CThis Sri Lankan eatery tucked within a grocery shop proved well worth the trip from Manhattan. The menu offers a delicious array of great flavors, with standout dishes including the string hoppers (complemented well by the dhal and sambol), the Lamprais (featuring a flavorful mix eggplant, cashews, and mutton), and the deviled mixed seafood (generously portioned seafood, tangy and savory). The food quality is exceptional, and the owners were incredibly warm and hospitable. We are excited to make return visits to explore more flavors off the menu.
September 29 · Bill WangI was visiting from out of town and decided to drop in while I was in the neighborhood. Worth pointing out that as of Sep 2024 they have a small dine-in area (there are a handful of Sri Lankan grocers in the area but fewer sit down options). The owner was super welcoming and recommended a lamprais, which I had with mutton. Portion sizes are huge - lamprais was the size of my face - and the mutton really juicy. I thought the fried eggplant (?) also complemented the dish really well with some added sweetness. Also chatted with the owner a little bit about the Sri Lankan community here on SI which numbers about 7,000. Will have to drop in again next time I’m in NY!
September 17 · Gary YanCame here off the Ferry and would make this trip here again any time just for the food, it was amazing, we had the deviled chicken with roti and fried rice. What a feast! Spicy, sweet deliciousness of the sauce, the tender glazed meat off the bone *chefs kiss*
