What is worth choosing
For a New Yorker, choosing Sammay’s Halal Food Truck is choosing an indispensable, authentic, and fast-paced piece of the city's food culture. The most compelling reason to choose this spot is its unwavering reliability as a source of Halal food, particularly during the late hours when few other options are available. The truck is there when you need it, a beacon of savory, spicy comfort.
The second reason is the sheer volume-to-value proposition. The classic Halal platter is renowned for being one of the best budget meals in the city—a mountain of seasoned rice, grilled meat (or falafel), fresh salad, and the signature sauces. For a quick, affordable, and incredibly filling meal, the Halal platter from Sammay's is hard to beat.
However, potential patrons should approach the experience with the understanding that quality in street food can sometimes fluctuate due to the high-demand, high-volume environment. Those who are specific about sauce levels, meat tenderness, or desired level of moisture should take the advice of the experienced patron and be communicative when ordering, asking for "more white sauce" or focusing on the popular gyro or chicken over rice options. Choosing Sammay's is embracing the essential, no-frills, high-stakes charm of authentic New York street dining—a risk often rewarded with "every last bite" enjoyed.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is the cart on Brighton Beach, Coney Island Avenue. So Awful! Super dry, after telling him to add more white sauce. Once mixed , I couldnt even see it. I didnt want to waste my money so I still wanted to eat it. My first bite was a bone and.very strong taste or peppercorn. Third bite was a bone. The chicken still had chicken fat stuck with it. Worst gyro ever. Just put color to make it red. Its uncleaned and bones everywhere. Luckily my toddler wasn't eating the chicken.
May 20 · S RWas here on 5/9/23 after 9pm. Ordered a lamb gyro and, as usual enjoyed every last bite. Fighting the urge to get another today lol. Open late
May 10 · Patricia FergusonThis is the only gyro I would get from any halal cart! The best in Brooklyn by far! I live quite far and still come to get it that’s how good it is! The lamb is the go to.
September 19 · Abby HussThe Guy that makes the gyro at night time is no good the chicken is colored red and has bones not very tasty either. If you really want to try this cart put come at day time the guy working at day time makes the best Gyro and thst chicken will be cooked with green peppers, onions and other spices unlike the night time guy
