Samwongahk Chinese Restuarant Introduce
For residents and visitors in the Queens area of New York, Samwongahk Chinese Restaurant offers a unique and highly satisfying culinary experience that goes beyond typical Chinese takeout. Located right in Bayside, this establishment specializes in what is affectionately known as Korean-style Chinese cuisine—a distinct genre of Chinese food that has been adapted and popularized in Korea, resulting in flavorful, hearty, and comforting dishes. It is a long-standing fixture in the community, cherished by locals for its authenticity and consistency.
Samwongahk is not just another neighborhood eatery; it is a destination for robust, traditional meals. A key feature repeatedly highlighted by patrons is the commitment to serving genuinely enormous portions. This focus on generous sizing ensures that every customer leaves fully satisfied, cementing the restaurant’s reputation for great value. Furthermore, the dining experience is characterized by its remarkable efficiency, with customer reviews noting that food is "always served super speedy" and the service is notably "Fast." This makes it an ideal spot for New Yorkers seeking a quick, hearty lunch or dinner without compromising on flavor or authenticity.
The menu is expansive, showcasing the depth of Korean-style Chinese cooking, with a strong emphasis on noodles, rice dishes, and a wide variety of seafood, poultry, and meat entrees. This blend of Chinese culinary tradition with Korean influences has resulted in beloved "local specialty" items that draw in a diverse crowd, including families, groups, and solo diners. The atmosphere is casual and cozy, promoting a relaxed setting that is welcoming to everyone from neighborhood regulars to tourists exploring the gastronomic richness of Queens.
While the focus is on a casual and filling experience—described by one patron as a place to "eat casual, not for its presentations"—the menu offers complex and high-end options as well, featuring delicacies such as Sea Cucumber, Abalone, and Shark’s Fin. This duality ensures Samwongahk can cater to both everyday comfort food cravings and special-occasion dining.

What makes it worth choosing is the unparalleled combination of specialized cuisine, exceptional value through generous portions, and the convenience of rapid service and free parking.
Diners should particularly explore the extensive range of noodle and rice dishes, which are the heart of this cuisine. The various Noodles with Brown Sauce options are the Korean-Chinese classic Jjajangmyeon variations, and the numerous Noodles with Soup selections likely include Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), both of which are central to the local specialty designation. The Fried Dumplings and Boiled Dumplings also stand out as popular small plates.
For meat lovers, the Fried Beef with Sweet and Sour Sauce (a likely variant of Tangsuyuk) and the Mongolian Beef are traditional choices. While one customer expressed disappointment with the breading on a fried dish, the overwhelming majority of the menu is described as "pretty decent," with high praise for the large portions of sliced beef and the overall quality. Given the depth of the menu, there are countless delicious, savory, and spicy choices to discover, from simple Kimchee Fried Rice to sophisticated dishes featuring Lobster and Braised Sea Cucumber.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food is pretty decent. I was disappointed with tangsuyuk. It barely had any meat and was mostly flour or breading.. it didn't taste like anything. The sauce made it marginally better. The rest of the food I had there was pretty decent. They also have parking behind the restaurant which is a big plus.
September 16 · Erik ZLong time standing Korean style Chinese food. Portions are huge to ensure every one will be so filled. The slice beef pieces are always humongous as well . This is a place to eat casual , not for its presentations . Food were always served super speedy.Parking lot in the back . There are steps at both front and back entrance .
June 27 · Vivian LinWe entered from the back parking lot entrance. Don't forget to bring your vaccination card and ID upon entry. For a Friday night there was plenty of seating. We didn't have to wait for a party of 4.For appetizers we got fried dumplings and sweet and sour pork. Not a lot of places give good portion sizes for appetizers. I was impressed we got a plate full of dumplings. Not just 3 on a small plate or something like that. And they were huge chunky dumplings too. Fried pork was juicy and saucy. For main we got the fried rice and black bean noodles. Both were average but they fill you up. You start with the hot tea set and the small pickled dishes. The red kimchi was great and it paired well with everything. Can't wait to come back.
October 08 · April Chanmi LeeStopped by Friday, 6/13/25 , having previously checked the menu . 1 ) Grossly overpriced, charging extra for use of credit cards 2) Single person "rabbit hole" bathrooms in a restaurant with seating capacity for 80 ( besides staff) 3 ) My tasty fried scallops only came with a few very thin pieces of red and green pepper : absolutely ridiculous for the price ! 4 ) I had to remind my rather distracted , but pleasant, waitress about tea..... she sent a Hispanic employee over , no sugar, milk, teaspoon, ...and I felt it necessary to instruct him ( a very affable fellow ) to hold tea cups from the bottom, not from the rim, before I left ...... I didn't drink any ! 5 ) Spanish sounding music being played in the kitchen ....this is a Chinese restaurant ....... But admittedly, a very "un-Chinese" Chinese restaurant CONCLUSION : Nice people working here but an uninviting atmosphere with rough edges on top of rough edges . Why pay so much when you can relax elsewhere on restaurant rich Northern Blvd. for the same price ? Give this spot at least another year before trying it out, unless you're really desperate ( at least you won't have long to wait ! )
June 15 · Gus “Camarasaurus” PelaroI have been going to this specific Samwongahk for Korean-Chinese fusion for 15 years... consistent, good food and the best service ever. No other Korean-Chinese restaurant does it like this one. 👍🏻
