Sendo Introduce
In a city that prides itself on its world-class culinary scene, Sendo stands out as a true hidden gem for sushi lovers. This isn't your average sushi restaurant; it’s a place that combines the meticulous craftsmanship of traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern, approachable feel. Tucked away on a vibrant Midtown avenue, Sendo offers an amazing experience that is as much about the quality of the food as it is about the ambiance and the service. As one enthusiastic customer noted, discovering this place was "an amazing experience!" and a visit is highly recommended for anyone "visiting or living in NYC."
Sendo is redefining the sushi experience by focusing on premium, high-quality ingredients sourced from places like Hokkaido and the Toyosu Market in Tokyo, and preparing them with expert skill. The result is a menu of nigiri, maki rolls, and curated sets that are incredibly fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is described as both "casual" and "trendy," creating a perfect setting for a solo meal, a date night, or a casual get-together with friends. Customers rave about the "kind and knowledgeable service" and the fact that you can watch the chef prepare everything right in front of you, adding an element of theater and authenticity to the dining experience.
The concept behind Sendo is inspired by the fast-casual sushi counters found in Tokyo, where you can get a quick, high-quality bite at an accessible price point. While the wait can sometimes be a bit of a challenge, as one review mentions, the general consensus is that it’s "worth every minute." The food is not only "incredibly tasty" but also presented beautifully, showing the care and artistry that goes into each dish. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It's a place that manages to feel exclusive and special without being intimidating or overly expensive.
Sendo has carved out a special niche for itself by offering an excellent balance of value and quality. It's a place where you can get high-end, chef-prepared sushi without the high-end price tag. This commitment to affordability and excellence makes it a standout in a city full of options. The fact that the restaurant is also a "sushi takeaway" option further adds to its appeal, allowing customers to enjoy the same great quality at home. Whether you're a long-time resident or a first-time visitor, Sendo is the kind of place you'll be tempted to go back to again and again.
Sendo's location adds to its unique identity as a hidden gem in the city. The restaurant is located at 876 6th Ave 1st Floor, New York, NY 10001. While this is a prime address in Midtown Manhattan, the restaurant's entrance can be a little difficult to find, which, as one customer mentioned, is part of the "charm and experience." This makes the discovery of Sendo all the more rewarding for patrons.
The restaurant is centrally located, making it incredibly accessible. It's in close proximity to major landmarks, including Herald Square and Macy's, and is just a short walk from a number of subway lines, including the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, and W trains. This accessibility makes it a convenient spot for lunch or dinner for people working or living in the area, as well as for tourists exploring Midtown. For those who choose to drive, the availability of "free street parking" is a rare and welcome amenity in such a busy neighborhood. The "wheelchair accessible entrance" is also a great feature that ensures the restaurant is open to all. Overall, Sendo’s location is both convenient and a key part of its appeal as a special, secret spot in the bustling city.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Discovered this hidden gem on a whim yesterday! It was an amazing experience! Quality of the sushi along with the ambiance and kind and knowledgeable service cannot be beat. Prices are affordable. We put our name on the wait-list and continued to explore the area while we waited for a text that our seats were ready (about 45 mins).Note - the restaurant was hard to find (which was part of the charm and experience. Definitely a hidden gem.I will definitely recommend Sendo to anyone visiting or living in NYC. I'm tempted to go back again today.
September 06 · Audrey YiLet’s be real — if you’re in NYC and haven’t tried this sushi yet, you’re seriously missing out! We had to wait a bit, but it was worth every minute. The presentation was beautiful, the food was incredibly tasty, and the staff was super friendly. The atmosphere is perfect for a foodie date — you get to watch the chef prepare everything right in front of you and explain each dish. I’d absolutely go back. A solid 10/10 — they nailed it!
June 16 · Matthew EdelsteinWe've been to Sendo a few times and always have an amazing meal. They have really good prices for their Omakase and HandRolls. It's a must when in Korea Town. I recommend to arrive early as they don't have reservations and it gets full pretty quickly, depending on the day.
July 21 · Patricia CastilloThe restaurant is called Sendo 鮮度, which means “freshness” in Japanese—but ironically, that’s exactly what the meal was lacking. The fish didn’t taste particularly fresh, and the portion size left much to be desired. We ordered the Hokkaido Omakase ($48), which included 10 pieces of sushi, 2 hand roll, and a tiny seafood bowl. The sushi pieces were noticeably smaller than typical sizes in Japan. Even after adding two extra pieces, I left feeling only about 60% full.I suppose it’s a case of “you get what you pay for,” so maybe the standard shouldn’t be surprising. But for a similar price point, Sushi by Bou consistently exceeds expectations in both flavor and overall experience.
April 18 · Shirley TAbsolutely insane omakase, the price just makes this a no brainer. 30 min wait so we went to a coffee shop and they texted us to get there within 10 minutes. Well worth the wait, total time eating for the meal was around an hour. Great pacing, not rushed at all. Tea was great, fish quality was great.
