While the atmosphere is intentionally simple and casual—with a focus on efficiency over frills—the food is where this place truly shines. The menu is diverse enough to satisfy a wide range of tastes, from those looking for classic grilled meats to more adventurous eaters keen on trying dishes like grilled chicken cartilage or the spicy charcoal grilled fish. The simple, no-frills setting allows the focus to remain squarely on the food, ensuring that every bite is as flavorful as it can be.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I came by with 3 friends recently to this newly-opened restaurant that specializes in skewers. We came on a Saturday evening around 6:30, and there were still a handful of tables available, but filled up while we were eating. (When we got there they asked us if we had reservations, but I don't see anywhere to make reservations online; so you might have to call to make one?)They have a pretty big menu of various spicy dishes (many of which did seem yummy!), but we decided to only try the skewers :) Price point is a tad high - around $2 per skewer on average (before tax/tip), but overall they were quite yummy. Our favourites were the grilled beef (fat & lean) 牛肉小串(肥瘦) and the grilled black pepper beef skewers 黑椒牛肉串. Both were quite nicely seasoned with cumin, pepper, etc. and the beef was well cooked to a tender softness. We also tried a few other options - beef tendons were fine but tended to taste a bit too oily, and the chicken cartilage had a nice flavour but texture was hard to chew. When we ordered, we were told that they didn't have any of the pork options available that evening (maybe growing pains with supply chain and what not). It's pretty interesting that they bring the skewers to you without a plate or anything (once you have a tray/plate on your table). Also, I think the ventilation in the restaurant is pretty lacking. Especially further away from the exit, you could smell and even see there was a lot of smokiness in the air (from the skewer grills). All in all, a pretty decent meal at a good price. I'm keen to come back to try some of their non-skewer dishes in the future !
June 21 · Matthew HoFood was incredible - so much better than I expected based on my first impression of the space and atmosphere. And the food is most important! I was put off by the plastic table and thin, disposable, plastic plates/bowls, the loud pop music, and the echo-y, austere interior. So I expected the worst but was pleasantly surprised when the food arrived. We had the dry fried green beans, chilled lettuce tips, and a selection of skewers, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The skewers are loaded with the smokiness and flavor of real charcoal and seasoned perfectly. Overall very reminiscent of what you’ll get in China. The chicken wings were very well done, which I prefer, though my wife did not and insisted is not the standard for Chinese BBQ.With a shared side of rice and a beer. It came to about $90 with tax and tip. Not cheap but also not outrageous. This is not a place to spend time. Service is responsive and to the point, no frills. Efficiency is the game. Sit, eat, get out. We’ll likely order take out in the future.
June 22 · Dustin IrwinThis place is so good! Seven Scents has everything I love — juicy, flavorful skewers, ice-cold beer, and that unbeatable Chinese BBQ vibe. The grilled meats were perfectly seasoned and tender, and the side dishes? Super tasty and comforting — just like a late-night meal back home. Also, don’t miss the spicy crawfish — messy, spicy, and totally worth it. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The vibe is chill, the service is friendly, and it’s a great place to hang out with friends. Prices are fair for the quality and portion size. Definitely adding this to my regular rotation!
May 29 · Jeffery ZhangIf you’re craving legit Chinese BBQ, this place hits the spot. The skewers come out smoky and loaded with cumin-chili goodness, the fried veggie plate is crunchy and addictive, and even the tossed lettuce salad packs a spicy punch. The space feels lively without being loud, so it’s perfect for grabbing a few friends, ordering a table-full of sticks, and chilling over cold drinks. Tasty, laid-back, and great for small hangouts—count me in for round two.
August 02 · Luke WangLately I've been a huge fan of Chinese BBQ so when I heard this spot just opened in LIC, I was super excited to go. The first time I went, the wait was extremely long, I decided to go another day at a slower time. I ended up going on a Friday at 4:30pm and there was no wait. The interior of the restaurant is bright and spacious. Staff is nice. Service is quick here, and despite it being a BBQ spot, this is one of the spots where they grill for you and bring out the cooked skewers (as opposed to you grilling it yourself). My friend and I got their beef, chicken cartilage, and beef with pepper skewers as well as their eggplant. I really enjoyed their chicken cartilage and beef with pepper skewers, but thought that their cuts of just beef skewers were too fatty. I did enjoy their eggplant too. I wish they had their cold noodles, but it was sold out when I went :(. I thought they did a good job at seasoning too, but did have to ask for more (I wish they just had it on their table). Overall, not a bad spot for Chinese skewers in LIC!
