Shaheen Sweets of Queens Introduce
In a city as diverse as New York, finding truly authentic and time-honored cultural staples is a treasure. For over five decades, **Shaheen Sweets of Queens** has stood as a genuine cultural bastion, proudly serving as the epicenter for traditional South Asian sweets and cuisine. Established in 1973 in Jackson Heights and now located in Bellerose, Queens, Shaheen Sweets is much more than just a **Confectionery store**; it is an institution that carries the culinary heritage of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh in every hand-crafted piece of 'mithai,' the Hindi word for sweets.
New Yorkers with a sweet tooth—and those looking for a taste of Punjab or simply an authentic snack—will find that Shaheen Sweets delivers on its long-held reputation for **authenticity, flavor, and freshness**. As one long-time customer noted, after being a fan for close to 26 years, their mithai "never fail to amaze me." The secret to this consistency lies in their dedication to making their sweets **fresh in-store daily**, a tradition maintained by their master chef, Tariq Hamid, at the helm of operations.
The shop functions as a multifaceted **Dessert shop** and **Indian sweets shop**, offering an expansive menu that balances classic, melt-in-your-mouth sweets with popular savory snacks. While the focus is clearly on the dazzling array of mithai, they also offer delightful items often associated with a **Pakistani restaurant** or casual eatery, such as hot **Patties, chicken rolls, chaats, and faloodas**. This variety ensures that every visit is a comprehensive South Asian culinary experience.
Shaheen Sweets has successfully bridged its legacy with modern convenience, offering diverse options for both local Queens residents and customers across the nation. Whether you are looking for a **Quick visit** to pick up a treat, need an elegant **gift box** for a festival like Diwali or Eid, or want to enjoy a **Falooda Drink** on a hot NYC day, Shaheen Sweets provides the perfect blend of tradition, quality, and accessible service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been a fan of Shaheen sweets for close to 26 years now and their mithai (Hindi word for sweets) never fail to amaze me with their authenticity, flavour and freshness.I was delighted to rediscover this sweet shop recently and see how they have grown from strength to strength. I found that nothing had changed in their bakery spirit at all. In fact, they had gotten even better in terms of the par excellence of food preparation and delivery to their customers. They now make the most delicately prepared packages of sweets in gift boxes for their customers in an excellent mail order service making for a lovely Diwali or anytime-of-the-year festive gift.I was glad to see that their bakery still makes their special sweets from scratch daily with the same master chef, Tariq Hamid, at the helm of their daily operations. A newly refurbished store front is now a little further from their old location from early 2000's in Jackson Heights with a cosy bakery storefront for a lovely sit down and chat.Take it from this media old hand in New York: this spot is a must try and must visit, to a bakery for anyone with a sweet tooth and love for South Asia. Shaheen Sweets is still a New York bastion of sweet treats for the soul.
June 02 · Roshni Bernadette AbayasekaraMost yummy and authentic snacks, very kind owner, feels blessed whenever i eat here. Heartily Thankyou Shaheen sweets for giving the feel of Punjab with every order. Apart from seasonal sweets, I wait for the Patties, chicken rolls, chaats and faloodas. They’re usually busy so please pre-order.
July 16 · akanksha vermaFresh mithai, kind and courteous owner and staff. They make their own kulfi as well, which I find better than the ones found in stores. They make everything in-house. The staff was kind and let us try some items which were fresh. They were taking out fresh gulab jamun when we got here so we ordered those -- so good! It's my go-to place for desi sweets.
July 29 · Z HashmiIf I could give more than five stars, I would. Shaheen Sweets of Queens is hands down one of the best - if not the best - sweet shops I’ve experienced in the entire USA. And that’s a bold claim. Every bite takes you back to a place of tradition, warmth, and craftsmanship that’s getting harder to find these days. The sweets tastes fresh, authentic, and made with real care. The textures, the flavors, the aroma - nothing feels mass-produced. You can tell these sweets are made by people who genuinely love what they do. The service on top of that is welcoming and wonderful!Highly recommended. You’re not just buying sweets here - you’re experiencing a taste of heritage.
June 06 · Mubtasim “Sabab” SawontoMithai is simply superb. May it be Burfi, Motti Choor Ka Lado, Ghulab Jamun, Chum chum or anything. We custom ordered for a box of 9 items and the price was USD13 per pound.Parking is an issue as in Queen's downtown, we double parked, turned the hazard lights as seemed to be the norm there.I requested them to let me use their employees washroom and found their kitchen to be very clean as well.
