Sharlene's Introduce
In a city filled with endless options for a night out, finding a bar that feels like a true community hub is a special discovery. Sharlene's, located on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, is just such a place. It's a bar that has earned its reputation as a local gem by offering a perfect blend of a relaxed, no-frills atmosphere with a top-notch selection of drinks and a genuinely welcoming vibe. It’s not a fancy cocktail lounge, nor is it a gritty dive bar; it's simply a great bar—a place where you can feel instantly at ease, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is one of comfort and camaraderie. The space is often described as dimly lit, cozy, and casual, providing an ideal backdrop for engaging conversations and unwinding after a long day. Sharlene's has a distinct personality, with a focus on fostering genuine connection among its patrons. This is a place where people go to talk to each other, a conscious decision by the owners to create an environment free from the distractions of televisions. Instead, the soundtrack to your night is a diverse and eclectic music selection that ranges from classic rock to indie favorites, creating a cool, laid-back vibe.
The bar has been a staple in the Prospect Heights neighborhood since it opened in 2009. It’s a place where bartenders are known for their friendly demeanor and expertly crafted drinks. This combination of a comfortable setting, quality offerings, and a community-oriented spirit has made Sharlene's a favorite for Brooklynites. Whether you're a seasoned local, a recent transplant, or a tourist looking for an authentic NYC experience, Sharlene's offers a sense of belonging and a great time.
---Sharlene's is conveniently located at 353 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238. This prime location places it in the vibrant and bustling Prospect Heights neighborhood, just across the street from the famous Grand Army Plaza and Prospect Park. The bar is situated on a major avenue, making it a prominent and easily reachable destination for anyone in the area.
The bar's accessibility is one of its key features. It is a short and easy walk from some of Brooklyn's most important subway stations. The 2 and 3 trains at the Grand Army Plaza station are just a few minutes away, and the B and Q trains at the 7th Avenue station are also within a comfortable walking distance. This makes Sharlene's an ideal pre-show spot for concerts at the nearby Barclays Center or a great place to stop for a drink after a day spent in Prospect Park or at the Brooklyn Museum. For those driving, there is free street parking available, which, while subject to city-wide challenges, is a valuable amenity in a dense neighborhood like this.
The establishment is also committed to being inclusive, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance that ensures all patrons can enter and enjoy the space. The interior is spacious enough to accommodate a bustling crowd comfortably, and the presence of restrooms adds to the convenience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1There are few feelings as getting out of the streets on a scorching summer's day in Brooklyn and walking into a cavernous, cool bar. It's too clean to be a dive, but low-key enough to be comforting. Simply my favorite place to grab a beer in BK.
September 05 · Tommy CBy far the best bar we've been to in NY. Great service, music and atmosphere. Bear Claw (the bartender) got absolutely rocked after the NIN concert at Barclay and had a great attitude the entire time. She deserves a raise AND benefits. I said what I said. Love from MN service industry vets.
September 03 · Matthew LaNasaPopped into this great little bar last Saturday. Great interactions with bartenders in this town are rare but really memorable experience with Nic! Really personable and knowledgeable and quick on the trigger. Cant wait to come back to see her!
July 15 · Garrett KramerGreat bar to unwind after a long day. The prices on cocktails and beers are great for the area and the amount of seats and booths is good for a spot like this. Bearclaw is an amazing bartender who knows her drinks and even remembers everyone's choice of drink.Overall great place to hang out by yourself or with friends. Highly recommend
July 10 · Carlos SantanaOverall rating: 4.5I came here around 1:30 am and it’s very low-key bar. I was hoping it was more a vibrant bar when my friend suggested it since it closes at 4am, but it felt like it was closing down. During the daytime, it looks like a very local bar. So just not sure if it’s the right bar for me. Might be worth checking out in the early afternoon.
