Shoo Loong Kan Hotpot Fort Lee: An Authentic Taste of Sichuan Hot Pot in New Jersey
For New Jersey residents seeking a truly authentic and high-quality Chinese dining experience, particularly one focused on the communal joy of hot pot, look no further than Shoo Loong Kan Hotpot (小龙坎火锅) in Fort Lee. This establishment brings the rich, bold, and unforgettable flavors of traditional Sichuan hot pot right to Bergen County, offering a dining adventure that is both social and deeply satisfying.
Hot pot is a traditional Chinese cooking method, central to a communal meal where diners cook a variety of raw ingredients—such as meats, seafood, and vegetables—in a simmering pot of flavored broth placed at the center of the dining table. Originating from Sichuan, Shoo Loong Kan is part of an acclaimed international chain known for its dedication to genuine Sichuan flavors, which are often characterized by a signature numbing and spicy sensation (known as málà).
The Shoo Loong Kan brand has rapidly expanded worldwide since its inception in 2014, owing to its insistence on “flavors from the soul, quality with integrity.” This principle is evident in the meticulous selection of ingredients and the careful crafting of their authentic hot pot soup bases. While some local hot pot spots in New Jersey offer an All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) model, Shoo Loong Kan focuses on a premium, à la carte ordering style, ensuring the highest quality and freshness with every item chosen. This approach means that while it is not an AYCE spot, the experience is elevated, and customers consistently report that the quality justifies the price.
For those new to this style of dining or those who simply enjoy non-spicy options, the Fort Lee location accommodates all palates by offering multi-section hot pots (such as the Two Flavor Broth), allowing groups to enjoy a mix of the fiery Sichuan broth and milder, non-spicy options like a tomato or mushroom-based soup, ensuring everyone at the table can participate in the feast.
Location and Accessibility for New Jersey Locals
Shoo Loong Kan Hotpot’s location in Fort Lee makes it a highly accessible destination for diners across North Jersey and beyond. Located at 2024 Hudson St, Fort Lee, NJ 07024, USA, the restaurant is situated in a convenient area known for its vibrant dining scene.
Accessibility is a key advantage of the Fort Lee branch. The establishment offers free parking—specifically, a free parking garage and a free parking lot. This is a significant benefit for customers in New Jersey, where convenient parking can often be a challenge. Furthermore, the location is committed to accommodating all guests, featuring a wheelchair accessible parking lot.
The restaurant's central placement in Fort Lee allows easy access from major roadways, making it an ideal gathering spot for groups coming from different parts of the state or even the greater tri-state area. The atmosphere inside is described as casual and trendy, providing a comfortable yet lively setting perfect for a group gathering, family dinner, or a special lunch. Customers are advised that, particularly during peak dinner hours, the popularity of the location may lead to wait times, a testament to the quality and authenticity of the dining experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very authentic Chinese Sichuan hot pot. The ingredients are super fresh, and the broth is on point. The service is attentive without being intrusive. This is NOT an all you can eat place, so you have to be strategic on how much you order to not waste food and money. Overall, I think it's great for the money, and you definitely get what you pay for on all levels. They do provide some compliemtary fruits and ice cream at the end of your meal, so it's good that hopefully you will have room for dessert. Overall, highly recommended.
April 26 · Mike ChengThree hours of validated free parking at the Hudson Lights garage. Food is solid. The service was very attentive. I noticed a couple who found their food a bit too spicy, and the server thoughtfully brought them a bowl of ice jelly and offered them ice cream. Very kind gesture.
June 25 · VickyI recently dined at Shoo Loong Kan in Jersey, and it’s easily one of the best affordable hot pot experiences around! From the moment I walked in, the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure a great dining experience. The hot pot offerings are impressive, with a rich, flavorful broth and a fantastic selection of fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, and dipping sauces. Every ingredient tasted fresh and well-prepared, making each bite a delight. What I truly appreciated was the balance between quality and affordability; you can enjoy a premium hot pot meal without breaking the bank. The ambiance is relaxed and inviting, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Overall, Shoo Loong Kan combines excellent service, mouthwatering food, and great value, making it a top destination for hot pot lovers in Jersey.
March 04 · Nea BacolodI had been looking forward to trying this hot pot place for a while, and finally came today with my boyfriend. I wanted to introduce him to authentic Chinese hot pot, but unfortunately, the experience was a bit disappointing.1. The flavor was just okay, but considering the price, it didn’t feel worth it. The tomato broth was quite bland and a bit too oily. The spicy and mushroom broths were better. Some ingredients, like the beef tripe, didn’t taste fresh and had a strong odor.2. The staff didn’t seem very happy, and the overall service felt a bit unwelcoming.3. We also noticed some staff members smoking right at the entrance, which affected our impression of the place. It was our first visit, and the experience wasn’t great. I really hope things improve next time.
June 16 · ZhiYan LiI went because I heard it was newly opened, and I was really satisfied. The interior was very clean, and the service was great. They even gave us a hair tie, which I thought was a nice touch. The prices were a bit on the higher side, but I didn’t mind because it was a new experience with great taste. I love spicy food, so I went for the highest spice level, but I regretted it—it was extremely hot! I think the medium level would’ve been just right.
