★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great modern takes on loved Persian pastries and drinks. Delicious but not suitable for people looking for food more faithful to the traditional recipes. For example the khaksheer was nice but more sweet and carbonated relative to the traditional drink
July 06 · AriVery calming, cozy, and clean cafe. We only had drinks (about $7 each), so I didn’t try any of the food items. The sharbat albaloo and sekanjabin were tasty, but overall, looking at everything, I didn’t feel that the prices match the quality/quantity of the food and drinks, which is also something I’ve gathered from reading other reviews. It is nice to see some Persian representation, and the bathroom artwork has a beautiful nostalgic and aesthetic feel to it, so definitely a vibe for some fun selfies.
April 05 · Jasmine MJAiry, bright, clean, delicious (abcd) is exactly how we found this Persian cafe. I had a stuffed bread with a fresh salad and a rose flavored, pistachios encrusted milk drink… what a refreshing breakfast.
April 08 · Theo CoulombeI’ve first heard about Sofreh from it’s breathtaking Persian restaurant across the road, and was later introduced to the this little cafe delight by someone very close to me and I’ve had it on my list, as they were already aware of my love for the fine, exquisite craftness of persian sweets and pastries. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting this Cafe after a nice Friday Pickeball game with the person that recommended this place. As soon as I headed inside I was greeted with the fresh, warm aroma of mixed pastries and freshly made zaffron with and I knew right there that I was at home.I started asking the baristas ( which gave me the warmest of welcomes into the cafe) really about some inquires I had about their menu and the diverse range of pastries that really highlighted onto the authentic persian experience of the persian sweets, as it’s nothing too sweet to make you feel bad about yourself yet hit that sweet tooth of yours. I also had quite the with both baristas their that really impacted my experience in the most positive manner possible. We weren’t quite sure what to settle on, as every dish looked more tempting the other absolute perfection at its finest. After hearing the recommendations from the baristas working there we settled on getting a nice iced brewed coffee with oat milk and one sharabat with cucumber paired with A Latifeh and the Yazidi Cake with Sharbat Albaloo and shekanjabin. As soon as I bit into the pleasant, little, delicate cookie that is latiefh, I got a kick of the perfectly made rose cream mixed with pistachio and rose water, absolutely quenched my sweet tooth while keeping it at a healthy balance. As for the Yazidi, I have no words to comment as it’s always been a sweet i’ve preferred and loved for it’s infuse of cardamom and rose, absolutely rich and lightly sweet. To highlight the Sharbat, honestly each one was better than the other, as always very light with a slight hint of sweetness while also allowing the sour cherry and cucumber to shine and blend everything together. Seriously will have to recommend getting their Sharbat. The atmosphere and ambiance of the interior design of Sofreh Cafe was absolutely terrific ! Very relaxing and laid-back yet inviting, complimenting their restaurant’s design with a minimalistic design style, yet very elegant and detailed in design that really reflected perfectly into the café. Checking out their bathroom at both the restaurant and cafe is a must, as it really gives you a glimpse of persian media.Lastly I’d like to highlight the friendliness of the waiters and staff that accommodated us so nicely although. The service at the Softeh was very gracious! The staff were so friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout ou little sit down. They really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and taken care of. It definitely added to the cozy vibe of the place and made our experience one to remember! Ameer the barista was truly the sweetest: very positive and inviting individual, helped with recommendations, personal drinks andsweets he enjoyed, and everything! Was very talkative and welcoming to Sofreh, givin into the Persian and middle eastern hospitality.I really cannot stress enough on how amazing our experience at Sofreh was: this must be a go to spot if you’re heading to any type of middle eastern cafe or shai spot. All in all, I will have to say this is definitely one of my favorite cafes in nyc that serves middle eastern pastries so far, I’ve been to so many and rarely does anything hit the spot and felt like home like Sofreh. Whole heartedly I really loved my experience at Sofreh, very palatable to the majority and packed with great flavor! All in all, a top rated experience, I invite you to pursue a visit in dining here; I can assure you I’m definitely coming back again and again!
July 10 · Mohammed AlsalmanSofreh café is a 10/10 for us. I bring everyone from out of town who comes to visit us. Amazing Iranian pastries as well as really wonderful savoury lunches. Love the piroski and chicken kuku. Chef Nasim uses such high-quality ingredients and you really can’t find this level of Iranian café cuisine - let alone cafe style lunch at restaurants anywhere. Also an extra plus that their coffee is Counter Culture!
