★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Had dinner at Theodora in Fort Greene — really solid spot with a few standout moments. The butterflied trout brought great flavor (crispy skin, smoky notes), and the sourdough with whipped ricotta is a must‑try. Service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is warm and stylish, though it gets loud when busy and tables are close. Overall an excellent choice for seafood lovers looking for a delicious meal.
September 15 · Justin YeeWow. Amazing experience from start to end. We were 3 people and went for 6 dishes, and all of them were hits. My personal favorites were all the seafood mains, so the black cod, the octopus and the butterflies trout. That said, I have to say the sourdough appetizer was quite memorable too (I don't even like ricotta usually). The staff member that served us was amazing and very good at communicating the meals and recommendations to us. The atmosphere was nice, and food came out fast. Would recommend ideally for groups of 2-4.
July 05 · Khoi PhamThe sourdough with whipped ricotta was my favorite. Do not skip this !Other favs were yellowfin tuna (specials), prawns, whole butterflied trout, corn.Cheesecake was best for dessert. Each dish was packed with perfectly balanced flavors.
September 19 · Alisha WarkeTheodora is one of NYC’s toughest reservations right now, and after my visit, I was left wondering why. We walked in right at opening on a weekday and were seated immediately. Service was excellent: attentive and accommodating. We ordered the red snapper ceviche, za’atar kubaneh, black cod, and half chicken. For all the hype, the za’atar kubaneh was underwhelming. The texture was similar to milk bread but much softer to the point of dissolving in the mouth with little chew. It was fragrant and subtly buttery but there wasn't nearly enough za'atar for it to make an impact on taste. The three accompanying sauces were fine, none really stood out.The red snapper ceviche was a miss. The fish tasted fishy and the lime vinaigrette wasn’t nearly tart enough to mask it. On top of that, the large pineapple chunks tipped the dish into overwhelmingly sweet territory.Fortunately, the black cod was a noticeable step up: tender, savory, and imbued with a rich smokiness from the coal fire. But the highlight of the meal, without a doubt, was the half chicken. It was beautifully juicy across both white and dark meat, deeply seasoned, and permeated with a smoky flavor that went far beyond the skin.At these prices and with this much buzz, the bar should be higher yet unfortunately, too much of the meal didn’t clear it.
June 06 · Christina Huynh100 out of 10!!We got an early reservation for a party of 6.The ambiance is amazing; it doesn’t feel like we are in New York City. They were busy, but with the skylight, it didn’t make us feel suffocated at all. The food was amazing. I've never had pita bread that style before. The branzino is a must-try: crispy outside the skin, juicy meat inside, perfectly cooked. The Hiramasa and Snapper appetizers were really good, and there were many more, I can't remember what they were. The staff is friendly, and everyone was so nice. Our server was Dave. He's amazing, kind, and thoughtful. Thank you so much Dave.
July 28 · Nini JSecond time in 2 months and travelling from Georgia to do so. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening. As always we ordered way too many dishes and all were excellent. I prefer my Octopus with a bit more char but the flavors were amazing. This trip we hit a number of difficult to get reservations and Theodoras was again the highlight. We enjoy sitting at the chefs table or a table with a view to the kitchen and the simplicity that this team work together and you can see that they all love being there and doing what they do makes it all the more entertaining. The chicken was great but for us we are there for the seafood and every dish was presented beautifully and had a complexity and depth of flavors that you rarely get elsewhere
