SoulKofa Vegan Restaurant & Catering Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a dining experience that truly connects with the soul while adhering to a plant-based diet, SoulKofa Vegan Restaurant & Catering stands out as an essential destination in Brooklyn. Far from the simplistic, bland perception some may hold of vegan food, SoulKofa delivers rich, authentic, and deeply satisfying cuisine rooted in the tradition of soul food, but made entirely without meat. This establishment is not just a restaurant; it is a community hub that proudly identifies as Black-owned, bringing a distinct cultural flair and passion to every dish they serve.
SoulKofa expertly bridges the gap between comforting, home-cooked flavors and modern, healthy dining. As a dedicated Vegan restaurant, their menu is naturally composed of Vegan options and Vegetarian options, but their specific focus on hearty, traditional fare ensures everyone, regardless of their usual diet, can find something truly delicious. They are widely celebrated for transforming classic soul food staples into entirely plant-based masterpieces, ensuring that the flavor and texture are never compromised. The positive word-of-mouth emphasizes that even devout carnivores won't "miss the meat" when dining here.
The culinary philosophy at SoulKofa centers on freshness and authenticity. Customer reviews frequently praise the effort and care taken by the chefs, noting that food is often made fresh to order. One patron enthusiastically recalled seeing the chef "pound the dumplings by hand right there" for their requested ital soup, a testament to the dedication to authentic, scratch-made cooking. This commitment to fresh, quality ingredients is also evident in their offerings, which include Healthy options, Organic dishes, and a variety of freshly prepared meals that are available for Lunch, Dinner, and even Breakfast.
The diverse menu is structured to please all palates. Review highlights suggest a must-try list that includes their mock-meat creations. The Jerk “chicken” (soy-based) is described as seasoned perfectly with the right spice level, while the Mock oxtail made from jackfruit is lauded as "tender, flavorful, and legit comforting"—a significant achievement in plant-based cooking. Other popular choices are the Stew “chicken” (also soy) with its rich, savory sauce, and the satisfying crunch of Fried oyster mushrooms and ingenious Fried drumsticks.
The sides are just as important as the mains in a soul food context, and SoulKofa excels here as well. Diners can enjoy classic pairings like rice & beans, creamy mac & cheese with that golden top, roasted potatoes, candied yams, and a selection of greens including cabbage, broccoli in garlic butter sauce, and a tasty green medley (spinach + kale + garlic). These sides are noted for being "homemade but elevated," with the greens being satisfyingly garlicky and the mac being perfectly creamy. The portions are described as hearty, guaranteeing a fulfilling meal every time.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Depending on what you’re ordering food is made fresh to order. I cannot say enough about the chef who made me ital soup upon request. It was so delicious and I saw him pound the dumplings by hand right there. That alone impressed me but my son’s burger and fresh cut in our face fries were delicious as well.If you want good, authentic, fresh food with great service go on and stop by Soulkofa and remember that good things take time. I’ll be back tomorrow for the rest of that soup because I’m sitting here upset that I didn’t get the large.
September 04 · Faye BrownSoulKofa Vegan Health Food is the real deal. This spot brings the full soul food vibe without the meat, and you honestly don’t miss it. The menu is stacked:• Jerk “chicken” (soy-based) that’s seasoned right and hits the spice.• Mock oxtail made from jackfruit — tender, flavorful, and legit comforting.• Stew “chicken” (also soy) with a rich, savory sauce.• Fried oyster mushrooms that crunch like chicken.• Fried drumsticks that look and feel like the real thing.• Sides: rice & beans, mac & cheese with that golden top, roasted potatoes, candied yams, cabbage, broccoli in garlic butter sauce, and a green medley (spinach + kale + garlic).Everything tastes homemade but elevated. The greens are garlicky, the mac is creamy, the jackfruit oxtail could fool a carnivore. Portions are hearty and the staff makes you feel like family. If you’re vegan (or just curious), this is a Brooklyn gem. Soul food with no compromise.📍235 Malcolm X Blvd, Brooklyn

September 14 · Yoshika GonzalezFood was amazing. I loved the jerk chicken and rice. The oxtail was also amazing. Mac and cheese was sooo good. I forgot his name but the guy working there was so nice and helpful. I appreciated him being so kind and letting us try the oxtail.
December 14 · Karli KMy first time trying their food, I ordered from too good too go. I'm really glad I did. I picked up my food on a Friday around 7pm. Went smoothly, the lady at the counter was very kind. She asked me if I wanted anything, I told her to give me whatever she recommends/is available. She did not dissapoint, she gave me mixed veg/cabbage, fried chicken and sweet potato. Delish and affordable. A little sauce for the chicken next time would be chefs kiss maybe. Either way I'm impressed and will be coming back.
