For a New Yorker looking for an exceptional and unique sushi experience, SourAji West is an excellent choice. The most compelling reason to visit is the innovative omakase format. This isn't just a meal; it's an experience. The initial omakase with its 14 courses of meticulously prepared nigiri provides a fantastic introduction to the chef's skills. But the true value comes with the subsequent "all-you-can-eat" portion. The ability to request extra pieces of coveted items like fatty tuna and wagyu is a rare and exciting offering that makes the meal truly high-end without the typical à la carte price tag. This provides a sense of abundance and satisfaction that is hard to find elsewhere.
Customers consistently rave about the quality of the food. The **scallop sushi** is a particular favorite, praised for its fresh and delicious flavor. The high-quality of the fish is a constant theme in reviews, with mentions of perfectly cooked rice and wonderful portioning. Another major draw is the drink menu, which complements the food beautifully. The **unlimited sake and beer** included in the dining experience provide an extra layer of value, allowing you to enjoy a variety of pairings without a second thought. The sheer amount of options, from a crisp **Orion Draft** to a rich **Dassai "23"** sake, ensures a perfect match for every piece of sushi. The attentive and friendly service, noted for always keeping cups full and accommodating preferences, makes the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It was great with unlimited sushi options! We had such a fun time chatting with the chef and he was super friendly, and all the staff were really nice too. The scallop sushi was especially good. I ended up getting 11 extra pieces and it was the perfect amount. The all you can eat extras were a bit smaller than regular size but still tasty. One thing is the the place was too small and the seatings were too tight to each other which was not that comfortable but other than that, the experience was good.
September 03 · Doah KwonService (5/5): We were asked to wait outside until out 7pm reservation while they set up the restaurant and then we were seated in waves. The staff seated us and proceeded to provide the menus/beverages fairly quickly. Service was stellar every moment throughout the experience. I felt like our cups were always full. We were able to switch up the sake of our choice throughout the meal. There was customization opportunities presented by the chef at the onset of the experience (dietary restrictions or preferences). The chef even humored us and tailored the special end bites to our diners requests!! Just wow!Ambiance (5/5): Super well-lit and low volumes. A long table onlooking 3 chefs with a few seats that faced the window.Food (5/5): Every single piece of sushi was delicious. Nothing needed to be changed. The rice was perfectly cooked, wonderfully portioned. The meal came with a half piece of mochi ice cream. During the AYCE sushi part, it was split into 3 waves to order: lean tuna, fatty tuna, and wagyu. For $98, the unlimited sake and the AYCE sushi was well-worth the high quality sushi and exceptional service provided.
June 20 · Steph WReservation is probably the way to go.Food is fresh, people are super kind especially if you do multiple visits. All you can drink sweet and dry sake plus beers is amazing.Bathroom is 1 person at a time. The 3 course at the end is amazing. You decide how many pieces you want of each 1, before the course is made and served.Fantastic experience, would highly highly recommend!
May 07 · Aaron NgBest experience in New york. The staff were extremely kind and very friendly. The quality was unbelievably good for the price, and they kept asking if we needed more drinks. The chef was incredibly kind and a great person. It was a happy Tuesday night.
March 11 · JM KimSuch an incredible experience. The price and service and food - Everything was insane. 13 courses of sushi and then all you can eat fatty tuna, and Wagyu beef. Plus a limited sake it’s a bit dangerous though taste very light but if you drink too much you can get wasted lol.
