Taste of Georgia Introduce
When New Yorkers talk about the city’s diverse culinary landscape, the rich and hearty flavors of Georgian cuisine are quickly becoming a must-try. Nestled in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn, Taste of Georgia stands out as a reliable and authentic destination for residents and visitors alike looking to experience this unique and comforting food tradition. More than just a local eatery, this establishment operates as both a Georgian restaurant and a dedicated bakery, offering a wide array of savory and sweet options that truly capture the essence of this Caucasus region's cooking.
Taste of Georgia has cultivated a loyal following by delivering fresh, traditional dishes at fair prices, making it a beloved spot for both newcomers to Georgian food and those who grew up savoring these flavors. While the famous Georgian staples like the cheese-filled bread Khachapuri and the pleated soup dumplings Khinkali are certainly highlights—with one reviewer praising the Khachapuri bread as "the softest and fluffiest" they’d ever had—the menu extends far beyond these favorites, ensuring a rich and rewarding dining experience for any appetite.
The bakery component of Taste of Georgia is foundational to its name, promising fresh, handmade goods that elevate the entire meal. From the various types of filled pies to classic Georgian breads, the commitment to fresh, quality baking is evident. This dual nature—restaurant and bakery—makes it a perfect stop for everything from a quick lunch bite to a full, satisfying dinner.

Features / Highlights
The true allure of Taste of Georgia lies in its menu depth and dedication to quality. Beyond the internationally recognized dishes, a look at the full offerings reveals an authentic taste of Georgian culinary traditions.

- Superior Khinkali (Dumplings): The focus on quality is clear, with beef Khinkali ($14.99) and regular Khinkali ($15.00) being top sellers. A customer testimonial highlights the 'perfect' seasoning, 'fresh herbs,' and 'delicious soup' inside the dumplings.
- Authentic Georgian Bread and Pies: Beyond Khachapuri, the menu features Shoti Bread ($3.50), a traditional Georgian flatbread, and Lobiani ($11.00), a savory pie filled with seasoned beans, along with Spinach Pie ($5.50), and various meat and potato pies.

What is Worth Choosing
For any New Yorker seeking an authentic and comforting culinary experience, Taste of Georgia offers a menu filled with exceptional choices that go well beyond the usual suspects. While the reputation of the Khachapuri—especially the famously soft and fluffy bread—and the flavorful, "perfectly seasoned" Khinkali with its savory soup are enough to draw anyone in, the real value lies in exploring the broader Georgian staples that make this cuisine so special.
A must-try category is the extensive selection of cold dishes and appetizers. The Pkhali-style preparations, such as Eggplant With Walnuts ($9.99) and Spinach With Walnuts ($9.99), provide an authentic, flavorful, and often vegetarian-friendly taste of the country's love for fresh herbs and walnuts. These appetizers are essential for balancing the richness of the main courses.
For a full, hearty meal, try one of the substantial pies like the Lobiani ($11.00), a bread filled with a savory bean paste, which offers a robust flavor distinct from the cheesier Khachapuri options. The Shoti Bread ($3.50) is also a simple, yet essential choice—perfect for scooping up the rich sauces and stews like Soup - Kharcho ($9.00).
Finally, don't overlook the desserts. As a dual bakery/restaurant, the fresh pastries like the Napoleon ($5.00) or one of the classic Georgian cakes are the perfect professional, sweet conclusion to a traditional meal. Whether you are ordering a quick Quick Bite or settling in for Dinner, Taste of Georgia delivers a genuine piece of the Caucasus to the heart of Brooklyn. The consistency in quality and the friendly service—even during busy times—make it a true gem that is worth the trip to Midwood.
The local community's appreciation, often highlighted in reviews that praise the quality of the meat and the freshness of the ingredients, confirms Taste of Georgia as an excellent choice for a taste of Georgian Comfort Food in NYC. New Yorkers have access to a global pantry, and this local bakery and restaurant ensures that the vibrant flavors of Georgia are a staple on that list.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Order delivery from here a few times. I love their khinkali it’s delicious! The khachapuri is delicious as well. The mushroom roll is so so good. The beef one not my favorite. The bread for their khachapuri is the softest and fluffiest I’ve had. It was very nice compared to other Georgian places I’ve tried. The khinkali mixture to me was perfect. The seasoning was balanced with fresh herbs and the soup delicious. The meat was fresh.I once ordered a type of bread filled with meat and cabbage and I think they gave me the wrong one. It was potato and dill inside, it was so so good. Next time when I ordered the same thing they sent me the correct item and not the potato filled one which I can’t find on their menu online. I wonder what it is because it tasted so good. I’ll need to go in person to inquire.I love their khinkali a lot and will continue to order from here and hopefully visit in person soon and try more dishes from their menu. Thank you taste of Georgia
September 19 · N AGreat shop selling all kinds of fresh, delicious Georgian food and bakery items at fair prices! I had never tried any of it before and they were helpful in explaining what everything was (it can get very busy!) Sometimes there are 2 seats available if you want to sit down and eat. I want to go back to try more of their products.
January 13 · Andi9/29/2025 3 hours 30 minutes I looked on the website that the store is open I needed to buy something in a Georgian store on the website it was written I came from far away The store is closed I think the owner of the store is a little crazy because he does not follow the Topic on Google So there are a lot of misunderstandings in this store when it is open or not open in one word Georgians in short
September 29 · Галима ОмароваI bought this chocolate cake from this store. I saw cakes over the counter and bought more than one. One of the cakes was NOT fresh cake it came out dry and hard! I do not recommend this place, they sell you expired items. But most frustrating thing that made me write this post is that, I asked the clerk if it's fresh, and he confirmed! But still got the expired one!
May 19 · Marufjon Aliu👎 👎👎This is awful Khinkali !!! 👎👎👎As soon as I dropped Khinkali in boiled water, they were broken.I was about to stir and they were broken, write at the moment I dropped them in the boiled water.I paid money for 6 Khinkali and only two were ok, other 4 were broken from the“ very first second ” I dropped them in a boiled water. You don’t know how to make dough for khinkali and in general You don’t know how to make Khinkali.Shame on You!!! 👎👎👎
