The Halal Guys Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For any true New Yorker, the phrase "halal guys" immediately conjures a specific image: a legendary food cart on a street corner, a long line of hungry patrons, and the unmistakable aroma of perfectly seasoned meat and rice. The Halal Guys have become a bona fide New York City institution, and while their push-carts are the stuff of local lore, their restaurant at 307 E 14th St offers a convenient and comfortable way to experience their world-famous flavors. This is not just a Mediterranean restaurant; it is the birthplace of American Halal Food, a unique culinary fusion that has captured the hearts and taste buds of people around the globe. The menu is famously straightforward yet incredibly satisfying. At its core are the platters and sandwiches featuring expertly grilled chicken, savory beef gyro meat, or crispy falafel, all served with their signature fragrant rice and fresh salad. Of course, no meal is complete without a generous drizzle of their two famous sauces: the creamy, "magical" white sauce and the fiery, intense red sauce that commands respect. As a business that started with a simple hot dog cart in 1990 to serve Muslim taxi drivers, The Halal Guys has grown into a global franchise, but its soul remains firmly rooted in New York City. The 14th Street location maintains the casual, trendy atmosphere that has always defined the brand, attracting a diverse crowd of college students, late-night revelers, and tourists eager to try an authentic NYC experience. It’s a place for quick, comforting, and filling meals that have become a staple for countless locals on their lunch break or after a long day.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is a small restaurant, not the push-cart style. We chose this shop because we wanted to eat in. But honestly I think the push-cart Halal Guys taste much better with the lil charred taste and smells better. Will defo try the other pushcart stores next time!Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Queued to order - choose your veg, meat and if you’d like I ordered the small size chicken over rice with their signature white sauce (lots of it, it’s a must!!). They are famous for their spicy sauce, according to them it is extremely spicy, so add carefully! The shop has about 8 seats available and were easily filled up. Luckily for us, someone left just when we finish ordering.
April 22 · Jane TThere are probably a thousand halal carts in NYC and I can promise you that 90% of them serve better food in terms of taste, value and number of calories. This place is over hyped. The rice is meh, the meat is meh and the sauces lack flavor. The hot sauce is too hot, without flavor or taste. The barbecue sauce doesn’t suit the food and the white sauce, well the white sauce is incredibly high in calorie count! Kind of defeats the purpose if one is trying to eat a somewhat healthy gluten free meal with grilled meats, rice and salad! And they nickel and dime you. Want olives? 60c. Want jalapeños? 60c. Want hummus? $1.50.Total - $18 and change. The combo tray that almost every cart guy offers in Times Square is $12 and has better taste and is better value for money.

From the moment you step in, the aromatic spices and sizzling sounds from the kitchen set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The menu offers a wide range of halal dishes, each prepared with care and expertise. One standout dish is the signature platter, bursting with a perfect blend of spices that tantalize the taste buds. The generous portions ensure that you leave fully satisfied, yet craving for more. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance, coupled with attentive staff members, create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience.Whether you are a connoisseur of halal cuisine or simply looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts in search of delicious and authentic halal dishes in NYC.
