When considering where to dine in Hell's Kitchen, The Marshal presents a compelling case. Its distinct identity, rooted in a farm-to-table philosophy and a commitment to quality, sets it apart from the competition. This isn't just another American restaurant; it's an experience that connects you directly to local farms and the seasonal ingredients they produce.
A primary reason to choose The Marshal is the food's quality and unique preparation. The wood-fired oven is not a gimmick—it's the heart of the kitchen, adding a depth of flavor that is hard to replicate. The Wood Fired Sirloin Burger and the Wood Roasted Cod are perfect examples of how a simple cooking method can elevate a dish. The pizzas are another major draw, with a wide array of options from the classic Margherita to more adventurous choices like Smoked Duck Breast Pizza and Truffle & Porcini Pizza. As a reviewer noted, the smoked duck breast pizza is "nothing like a good pizza," highlighting its standout quality. For those with dietary restrictions, the option for a gluten-free cauliflower crust is a thoughtful addition.
The starters are also a strong reason to visit. One reviewer was so impressed that they planned to come back just for the appetizers and dessert wine. The Veritas Farms Deviled Eggs were particularly praised for being packed with flavor. The Wood Oven Mac N' Cheese and Local Pork Big Meatballs are also excellent choices for a rich and comforting start to your meal.
Furthermore, The Marshal's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment makes it an especially appealing choice. Being an LGBTQ+ owned and friendly establishment with gender-neutral restrooms shows a dedication to creating a safe and comfortable space for all diners. This, combined with the cozy and intimate atmosphere, makes for a truly pleasant dining experience. The emphasis on supporting local farms and wineries also gives your dining dollar a greater purpose, contributing to the local New York economy. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came here for brunch and they sat us outside because we didn’t have reservations enough tho inside was only half full. I get it’s a small and cozy spot. Amidst all the noise and pedestrians eyeing our food on the smallest of table ever, we enjoyed our lunch. I really wanted to try the “world famous meatloaf” but they initially gave me the wrong menu, and they don’t serve it during brunch/lunch. The smoked duck breast pizza and short rib hash was decent, nothing out of this world.
September 06 · abcdanLet's put last, first. The starters were so good that at the end of our meal, we decided to definitely come back just to have the starters along with their dessert wine from the Brotherhood Winery. We've had the good fortune of going to this local winery on numerous occasions. Their wines are some of the bestIf you're a deviled egg lover, the devil eggs would easily steal the show. Somehow, the chef was able to cram a half dozen egg yolks into three half whites. The deviled eggs had tons of flavor.Great steelhead trout, and there's nothing like a good pizza topped with smoked duck breast.Great dessert, Maple Marshmallow Smores😋Love the narrow, cozy, intimate space.
July 04 · Paul HIf you're strolling through Hell's Kitchen and in need of a bite, The Marshall is the spot to unwind. This cozy little restaurant offers a laid-back vibe, where reservations aren't necessary—even your furry friends are welcome! Yup, we enjoyed our meal right on the sidewalk with our pup by our side.Meeting my partner here for an after-work dinner was a solid choice. The deviled eggs were a tasty start, but the ribs were the real MVP—so tender they practically fell off the bone. Seriously, don't miss out on those! We also tasted the meatloaf and pizza, rounding out a nice meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for just hanging out without any fuss. While The Marshall is a delicious stop, it's not without its quirks, earning a solid 4 out of 5 stars from us. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal or just want a casual hangout, it's worth popping by. Enjoy!
April 26 · Casey MasonGreat local spot! Amazing cocktails - delicious thoughtfully crafted plates and pizza. Locally sourced ingredients, attentive service and a great vibe. Dawson crafted a wonderful custom cocktail (bees knees) and the Negroni was exceptional. We will be back!
July 21 · Pauline JonesThe deviled eggs are great. They happily served the duck prosciutto topping on the side for the vegetarian at our table (who would have happily eaten a dozen deviled eggs if it was socially acceptable).
