The Monro Pub Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Tucked away on bustling Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood, The Monro Pub offers a unique slice of British pub culture right here in New York City. Owned by a husband and wife duo, Nicole and Vinny, who named it after Vinny’s favorite local in his hometown of Liverpool, England, this pub brings a cozy, authentic feel to the heart of Brooklyn. The Monro is more than just a bar; it's a community hub where locals, tourists, and groups can feel at home. With a relaxed and casual atmosphere, it's the perfect spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy a quiet pint.
What truly sets The Monro apart is its dual identity as a quintessential British pub and a dedicated sports, specifically soccer, bar. It’s the kind of place where you can find a friendly crowd on match days, cheering on their favorite teams. The pub's ambiance, complete with big tunes on the jukebox and a welcoming vibe, creates an environment that's both lively and laid-back. It's a place that fosters community, so much so that one customer who met a couple at a match in Liverpool was told to visit The Monro next time they were in New York. The Monro’s commitment to being a safe and inclusive space for all, including the LGBTQ+ community, further solidifies its status as a beloved local spot. This is a place that feels like a refuge from the world, a comforting escape for New Yorkers looking for a genuine, friendly pub experience.

What is worth choosing
When it comes to deciding why The Monro Pub should be your next hangout spot, several key factors make it a standout choice in a city full of options. First and foremost, its reputation as a genuine, friendly local bar is a huge draw. One reviewer noted that the staff is "amazing" and makes you feel right at home, a critical aspect of any good pub. The presence of a truly welcoming atmosphere, where patrons are treated like family, sets The Monro apart from more generic, impersonal venues. The fact that the pub is a "transgender safespace" and "LGBTQ+ friendly" further underscores its commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. This dedication to community and kindness is a rare and valuable asset.
Beyond the excellent service and atmosphere, The Monro Pub's offerings are also a major reason to visit. The beer selection is praised as "great," with a variety of taps, bottles, and cans, including authentic British and European options like Guinness and Kronenbourg. For those who prefer spirits, the house cocktails are a highlight, with unique concoctions like the "Monro Sangria" and "Brooklyn Iced Tea." A standout feature is the pub's policy of allowing outside food, which gives patrons the freedom to explore the diverse culinary scene of Park Slope and bring their favorites right to the bar. As one customer noted, you can "order in and eat it there," making it a perfect spot for those who want to hang out and have a drink without the pressure of a full restaurant meal. The combination of a top-notch beer and cocktail list, a welcoming and inclusive crowd, a great staff, and the freedom to bring your own food makes The Monro Pub a truly exceptional choice for a night out in Brooklyn. It's the kind of place you'll definitely want to keep returning to.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Hands down an excellent bar to hang out and catch a game. Have a few pints with friends and put some music on the jukebox. They don't serve food but you can order in and eat it there. The staff of amazing, if Johan is there you're going to have a great time. Make sure you take care of him, and he'll take care of you. Depending on the hour I've found parking time and time again. Definitely returning here, again.
April 04 · Gio PMet this nice couple @ Anfield today for the Arsenal match, told me to that they frequent your bar on match days, told me to give you a visit next time I’m in NY, so here’s to hopefully seeing you some time, up the reds⚽️👍👍
September 01 · Blake BeamI was on vacation from Liverpool (UK). I came here to watch my team Liverpool FC play Crystal Palace on Saturday 05 October. I was staying in Harlem and it was an 07:30 kick off but it was worth the effort to visit this great bar. Vincent, the owner made me feel very welcome. I had a good chat with him after the match and could have easily stayed for another pint but it was still before ten in the morning. Thank you, Vincent.
