When visiting Tokyo Taiyaki, what is worth choosing depends on your preference for fillings and flavors. The taiyaki itself is the star of the show. Customers often praise the "Red Bean" filling, describing it as having a "nice texture" and a "perfect balance of sweet to savory," making it a go-to choice for a classic taiyaki experience. The "Custard" filling is another traditional option, offering a smooth and creamy contrast to the golden, toasty waffle exterior. For those who want to try something different, the combination of a warm taiyaki cone with the cool, soft-serve ice cream is a popular and photogenic choice. The "Matcha Soft Serve" is a standout option, praised for its "good matcha flavor" that isn't overly sweet. This pairs exceptionally well with the red bean filling and a chocolate drizzle. The shop also occasionally offers seasonal or limited-time fillings, so it's always worth asking about what's new. Ultimately, a visit to Tokyo Taiyaki is about enjoying a simple, well-made, and unique dessert. The best choice is to go with a classic filling that highlights the quality of the taiyaki itself, while also perhaps adding a scoop of soft serve to experience the full range of what this charming dessert shop has to offer.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I didn't care much for the custard filling in my custard/red bean taiyaki, but the red bean was so great it canceled it out- I'd recommend it as a go to filling here. Nice texture, perfect balance of sweet to savory. The taiyaki itself was very nicely done, gold and toasty. I've been missing it badly- I'm gonna have to go back soon for another. The matcha soft serve also hit the spot, the sweet angel person behind the counter gave me free mochi with it! Which was very nice and kind and it's not even relevant that the mochi itself was a dried out mess. But back to the soft serve. Soft served (great texture), not too sweet, good matcha flavor, went well with the red bean taiyaki and chocolate drizzle. Extremely solid dessert, I was thrilled with it. Happy to have a new go to
March 18 · Siena WDI gave this two stars, but maybe it deserves one. The taiyaki was not fully cooked and I got a few mouthfuls of raw dough. This was after it took like 15 minutes to make. I gave most of mine to my dog who also sniffed it weirdly (not hungrily like dogs do when they like something). My husband threw most of his away. Do better!
August 22 · Eloni FelicianoI got matcha soft serve with fruity pebbles and mochi bites! The matcha flavor wasn’t too strong or too sweet. It was perfect with little mochi bites. They also have seasonal special taiyaki and drinks. I’m definitely returning to this cute little shop again to try out taiyaki next time.Update : Back again after months, and it’s still good like the first time. I had a Nutella taiyaki this time. It was warm, crispy, and had a lot of nutella inside. I would say best taiyaki store in nyc!
May 19 · gomgomieI love their matcha ice cream! And they have great selection of toppings. Yummy!
September 04 · Joe StarkI actually quite liked this dessert! The Taiyaki gives a delightful chewiness and the ice cream felt like the right balance between the matcha flavor and sweetness. Our dessert was also prepared very quickly. My one “gripe” if any is that there isn’t any space for standing/sitting.
