Tucasa Restaurant Introduce
For residents and visitors in New Jersey seeking a taste of authentic Caribbean flavor, particularly the rich, comforting dishes of the Dominican Republic, look no further than Tucasa Restaurant in Newark. Located in the heart of the vibrant Ironbound neighborhood, Tucasa has established itself as a reliable local destination for those craving genuine Dominican cooking, served in a casual and welcoming atmosphere.
This eatery is well-known for providing generous portions of Dominican comfort food, making it a popular choice across Essex County and the greater North Jersey area. Whether you're starting your day with a traditional Dominican breakfast, grabbing a quick bite for lunch, or settling in for a satisfying dinner, Tucasa Restaurant caters to various dining needs throughout the day. The establishment is particularly noted for its efficiency, with many patrons highlighting the speed of service as a major draw.
The menu is designed around the beloved staples of the cuisine, ensuring that you can find the classic flavors that define Dominican cooking. One highly praised item, specifically mentioned by a customer, is the *tres golpe* breakfast. For those unfamiliar, *tres golpe* (meaning 'three hits') is an iconic Dominican breakfast dish featuring boiled and mashed green plantains known as *mangú*, served with the classic trio of fried Dominican salami, fried cheese (*queso frito*), and fried eggs, typically topped with sautéed red onions in vinegar. This hearty and flavorful meal is a perfect example of the authentic, filling fare that Tucasa aims to deliver.
A central pillar of the restaurant's reputation is its commitment to providing flavorful and satisfying meals, which can be seen in its popularity for all three main mealtimes—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has become a community fixture for families and groups looking for an easy, delicious dining experience, and is equally popular among solo diners seeking a comforting meal.
Tucasa Restaurant is strategically situated at 400 Delancy St, Newark, NJ 07105, USA. This address places it squarely within the renowned Ironbound section of Newark's East Ward. The Ironbound is famous across New Jersey and beyond for its dynamic cultural landscape, which is largely influenced by Portuguese, Spanish, and Latin American heritage. The neighborhood is a major hub for dining, commerce, and community life, often described as having the hustle and intimacy of a European market town.
Its location on Delancy Street offers relatively easy access, and a significant convenience for local customers is the availability of a dedicated free parking lot. This amenity is highly valued in the dense Ironbound area, making it less stressful for those choosing to drive. While public transportation options are robust throughout the Ironbound—it is located near major transit hubs like Newark Penn Station—the on-site parking is a definitive advantage for visitors from further afield in New Jersey, such as those from nearby counties who are seeking this particular culinary experience.
The neighborhood itself is a blend of residential homes, commercial businesses (including many highly-rated restaurants), and industrial properties. Dining in the Ironbound offers a unique experience, immersing you in a richly multi-ethnic environment. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stayed at a hotel nearby and wanted the typical Dominican (tres golpe) breakfast so I found this restaurant online. The food was great and service was 5/5. They had a lot of variety, my husband had the chicken soup and it was delicious too! Definitely stop by.
December 11 · Solmayra GuerreroI'll be very honest.. I ordered to stay.. 1 fried fish with rice and beans , 1 cassava, and potato salad woth a small pepsi... it Totalled $17.50 amd i still gave them another $3.50 just to round it out to $20... was it worth the price !?? Absolutely not ... there are much better places that charge much less for food... wasn't bad but it was just okay. Things could be a little more clean in the kitchen area and the wat they handle the food... I wouldn't recommend it unless you had to go there because I know there are better choices in the area for less but if you have no choice its still okay just not what I would recommend
July 03 · InterstateBullly EnygunnaI went there for breakfast because I arrived an hour early for my interview at a nearby office. The waitress was very nice & accommodating. They let me wait inside. Although they were serving dinner foods - I only had a roll & some tea but the food looked delicious. The place was very clean & they have a pool table & large screen TV's. The next time I'm there I'm going to try the food because it looked very good.
January 15 · Krystall BhallAbsolutely disgusting!!!! The waitresses ignore you unless you give a high tip and they let men touch them and accept money secretly from that and flirt with men in front of customers
April 24 · Gabriela UrgilesFor the love of everything precious please avoid the porkchops. You'll find more satisfaction taking off your work boots and chewing the soles. Empanadas are limp and soggy folds of doughy sadness. Super bland food and basic white rice cooked without a shred of love. You'll see when there's long lines for the food trucks outside and this place is empty
