For New Yorkers seeking a true taste of Jamaica, Unique J Kitchen and Bakery is an essential choice due to its authentic menu. When deciding what to order, a few dishes represent the heart of Jamaican cooking and are the core reason to visit.
The Oxtail is a dish that defines Caribbean cuisine and is often worth trying at any Jamaican spot, typically featuring tender, slow-cooked meat in a rich, savory gravy. Likewise, the Jerk Chicken is a national staple, promising the distinctive, smoky, and spicy flavor profile that is world-renowned.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Really Disappointed, maybe because I was hoping for more being Jamaican myself. The parboil rice has a rancid taste - I then decided to smell it - it smell like the oil they used to cook the rice was old or the rice itself was old. This is my first Jamaican restaurant that’s I’ve seen parboil white rice, usually Jamaican cook long grain rice very good. The curry and the stew chicken I got was over cooked. Flavor were just ok, tasted like when you pull meat from a soup. The cabbage was super soft. Hopefully the restaurant can make improvements. The lady serving was respectful. I throw the food out after driving fro 20 minutes one way to get it- it was that bad
October 15 · Kay KayFood was horrible, I ordered stew chicken , rice n peas & cabbage , the chicken was full of bones. Rice had no flavor and was burnt as if it was reheated from yesterday. The plantain was hard. The lemonade was good.
November 30 · T SGood place with very hospitable people. Ordered the large curry with rice, it had good taste and portions, as they had given me a lot of beans, also followed my request for a lot of gravy. I'll definitely order the Oxtail and Jerk chicken next time!
June 17 · Raiden NuguidNice people, but the food was tasteless im sorry The rice had no flavor neither did the macaroni salad nor baked Mac definitely not a taste of Jamaica..
August 01 · Jeremy PabonI live in Staten Island so before I went to unique kitchen and bakery I called to make sure they had what I wanted which was ackee and salt fish . When I called the lady that answered the phone seem to me like she didn’t feel like talking , but she assured me they had what I wanted. Upon me arriving. , I noticed the voice of the lady from the phone was the one I was placing me order with . I now know why she didn’t feel like talking because it look to me like she jus rolled out of bed , and she was moving like a snail . Now to the food . I got ackee and salt fish and boy oh boy let me tell you SALT FOR REAL . OMG it was so nasty. All I taste is salt . I don’t recommend this place trust me . But I know they still have people that have to see for themselves but you’ll just be wasting your money !!
