Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Reviews
Rich. Creamy. Unforgettable.Van Leeuwen isn’t just ice cream—it’s a full-on dessert experience. Every scoop is ultra-smooth, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. From classic flavors to creative combinations, it’s hard to go wrong here.We stopped in for a treat and were blown away by how indulgent each bite was. Whether you’re a purist (hello, Vanilla Bean) or craving something bold like Earl Grey Tea or Honeycomb, there’s something for everyone. It’s a bit of a splurge for ice cream, but totally worth it. If you’re wandering the city and craving something cold and creamy, Van Leeuwen delivers every time.
July 31 · K RhodesA Delightful Surprise!Let me start by saying, I walked into this place completely by chance. I wasn't even looking for an ice cream shop, but I’m so glad I found it. The location is great, and the interior is warm and inviting. The lighting is just right, and the pleasant colors and tasteful decor create a really comfortable atmosphere. Now, here's what truly impressed me: I’m allergic to dairy, and finding a creamy, satisfying ice cream alternative is usually a challenge. But they had an amazing vegan chocolate ice cream that completely blew me away. I honestly don’t know how they made it so rich and creamy without using milk, it was incredible. I’ve tried so many water-based sorbets in the past, but they never give that smooth, indulgent texture. This one did.For someone like me who’s always craving real ice cream but limited by allergies, this was a real treat. And for those who do enjoy dairy, the shop offers a wide variety of classic and creative flavors, so there’s truly something for everyone.Highly recommended, especially if you’re looking for quality, flavor, and a place that’s mindful of dietary needs!
May 01 · Emil YsonaFirst time trying out the famed Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and boy oh boy was it as underwhelming as it was expensive. I went here with a friend, both of us craving ice cream on a hot summer day, and our experience immediately soured when the worker said that they did not accept cash. Is cash simply not a form of currency anymore? Extremely inconvenient and also limiting, especially since me and my friend are students without any form of credit card—so I was instead I had to pay ten dollars and receive absolutely no change. The worker was extremely nice and sympathetic about it but I still can’t fathom what kind of big brand business just decided that cash wasn’t useful any more and didn’t even have a single cash register or loose change. The horrible experience got worse when I received my order—a simple waffle cone with strawberry ice cream scoops with rainbow sprinkles. A classic that a renowned ice cream brand surely couldn’t and wouldn’t mess up, no? Wrong. Absolutely wrong. The strawberry ice cream didn’t even remotely TASTE like strawberries—moreso bland, generic dollar store ice cream with a shot of red food coloring. The only thing remotely good was the waffle cone, but even then it was close to ten dollars for the most mediocre and tasteless piece of “ice cream” I’ve ever tasted in my life. You’re so much better off buying ice cream from ice cream trucks unlike this absolutely clown excuse of “upscale” ice cream. Crazy tourist trap and money trap.
September 13 · AmyIt was our first time visiting, and unfortunately, the experience wasn’t great. The service was quite slow, and there was very limited seating available, they also did not have chocolate ice cream 🤷🏻♂️. Also, they don’t accept cash, you have to use a reverse ATM to load a card, which is inconvenient. We tried the cookie cream and pistachio ice cream, which were actually pretty good.
July 11 · Nusrat AReally nice Ice cream. Plenty of flavours. The waffle bowl was cool, but too big for 1 scoop; get at least 2. Flavours tend sweet. Chocolate brownie brown sugar cookie dough was good, but no cookie dough chunks which was strange. I paid $10 for one scoop and waffle cone. Very upscale ice cream. Impressive vegan selection
