## Introduction / Overview: The Buzz Behind Xin Fa Bakery
For anyone in the know about authentic Asian treats in New York City, the name Xin Fa Bakery immediately brings to mind one thing: extraordinary **Egg Tarts**. Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn's bustling Sunset Park Chinatown, Xin Fa Bakery has quickly cemented its status as a local legend. This is not just any Chinese bakery; it is a destination for those seeking what many reviewers and seasoned foodies claim are the finest egg tarts they’ve tasted outside of Hong Kong or Macau.
The atmosphere is described as wonderfully chaotic, a testament to the high demand and the constant turnover of freshly baked goods. The continuous production ensures that you are likely to be purchasing an item that is still warm from the oven, providing a superior flavor and texture experience. While the bakery offers a full array of Chinese bakery items, its reputation is built on the buttery, flaky crust and thick, creamy custard filling of its signature **Portuguese Egg Tarts (Po Tat)**. Its status is further supported by very reasonable prices, keeping these sought-after delicacies accessible to the community it serves.
Beyond the famous pastries, Xin Fa Bakery stands out with a surprisingly modern and extensive beverage menu. From classic **Milk Tea** to an impressive variety of **Fruit Smoothies** and contemporary **Cheese Tea** options, this bakery successfully blends traditional baking with the city’s current drink trends, making it a perfectly balanced stop for a quick, satisfying visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Come for the egg tarts. Customers were leaving with boxes, and they didn’t even make it to the display case because they were selling so fast. It's chaotic in there with staff weaving through the lines with boxes and trays of baked goods.I think this may have been the best egg tart I have had outside of Hong Kong/Macau. And very, very reasonably priced. I got a single egg tart and a pineapple bun for just over $3.
May 16 · Lisa WilliamsI’ve ate a lot of egg tarts in my life but this is the best egg tart I’ve ever had (not exaggerating). Come early if you want a box of them or any, they sell out fast. Lines for this place is always long so prepare to wait for 15-20+ minutes.
May 26 · kristin platformsCOME FOR THE EGG TARTS! I’ve grown up eating all kinds of egg tarts and these are by far one of the top contenders for best egg tarts. They have a nice light crust but with a dense thick soft custard-like egg filling. For whatever reason they taste a bit bland coming directly out of the oven as you burn your mouth trying to eat it fresh, but once it cools down a little you can taste all the flavours so much better. So be patient and let it cool.I came in the winter time (Feb) around 1pm and they just had a large batch coming out of the oven. I tried coming here in the summer prior and was told there was a 45 min wait just for egg tarts. It gets very busy here and people buy the egg tarts in BOXES! Dude in-front of me ordered 4 boxes as soon as they came out. I’m just glad they make huge batches at a time.
February 17 · T. A. Tuho100% one of the best egg tarts I’ve had, definitely top 3. Their Portuguese egg tart is the real star, and pretty affordable at $1.75 each!
April 21 · Matthew ChenThey have really fresh and tasty egg tarts, there is always a line inside but the pastries are good. I think they raise their prices recently.
