This is perhaps some of the best shaobing found in a small stall down one of the mini food halls in Flushing. Shaobing is a traditional Chinese flatbread in northern Chinese cuisine that's baked and layered, optionally stuffed with sweet or savory fillings. It's a common breakfast item that’s flaky, juicy and dense. We got the black pepper beef shoabing ($4) and the spicy cumin lamb shoabing ($5) here at Yukun Shaobing, located inside Landmark Quest Mall. Both options were juicy, but the lamb one was extraaa juicy - delicious, a perfect snack on a cold winter day. We visited on a snow day, so these were like little hand warmers. Yukun Shaobing also has a whole bunch of other filling options such as chicken, spicy squid, pork, red bean, shrimp & corn, and spicy tofu. No seating for this stall. Beware of the hot bursting juice when you bite in and don’t forget to bring cash! - Ming

Yukun Shaobing Introduce

For New Yorkers craving a truly authentic and specialized taste of Northern Chinese street food, Yukun Shaobing in Flushing, Queens, is an indispensable destination. Tucked away within the lively Landmark Quest Mall, this modest stall has quickly gained a reputation among locals and serious food enthusiasts alike for serving what is widely considered some of the best shaobing in the city. Shaobing is a traditional Chinese flatbread, characteristically flaky, layered, and often baked to perfection, frequently enjoyed as a hearty breakfast item but equally satisfying for Lunch or Dinner.

Shaobing is a culinary art form hailing from Northern China, particularly associated with the Shandong province, which is the heritage of one of the proprietors. At Yukun Shaobing, the focus is on mastering this flaky, sesame-seeded flatbread and stuffing it with an impressive variety of both classic and uniquely adapted fillings. The bread itself is savory, crisp on the outside, and delightfully layered, making it the perfect vehicle for the juicy, dense fillings inside. It truly is the definition of high-quality Comfort food and an ideal Quick bite for anyone navigating the bustling streets of Flushing.

The menu goes far beyond the shaobing, however, offering a comprehensive selection of regional small plates and cooked foods. This tiny stall manages to pack a full Chinese dining experience into a compact format, making it much more than just a quick snack vendor. The proprietors, two enterprising women, have successfully bridged regional flavors—from classic Northern favorites like shaobing and lamb soup to local Cantonese staples like cheong fun (steamed rice rolls)—ensuring that whether you are a purist or looking for a modern twist, Yukun Shaobing offers something to satisfy your palate.

The sheer variety of offerings ensures that even the most discerning New York diner will find a favorite. From the rich, savory meat fillings to the sweeter dessert options, the menu is designed for exploration and enjoyment. The commitment to fresh, homemade taste is evident, even if the rich nature of the traditional fillings means the food is an indulgent treat—a fact customers embrace, viewing it as a delightful 'gut bomb' of flavor.
