★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Zaad is a small unassuming shop that serves authentic Middle Eastern and Egyptian halal food. They are one of the rare, if not only Egyptian style restaurants in downtown NYC that serves a Foul Mudammas Wrap (fava beans topped with green salad) and it is absolutely delicious. It is one of the best vegan meals out there and takes me right back to the shops across the Nile selling them.Everyone who works here is always super nice and the food always comes out wonderful, what more can you ask for when you go out to eat?
July 28 · Mona IbbyUncovered another hidden gem. Everything is delish and ingredients are fresh. Falafel balls are hot n crispy and savory and moist on the inside, and I gobbled my chicken shawarma dish up - great texture flavor and spice. Their chicken soup is yerm, and the sides add nice complex flavor like pickled onion. Getting hungry again just writing this. The staff is so friendly to chat with as well. Go support this biz y’all!
May 06 · Steven ChuCame here for Mother’s Day to take out and sit on a bench on Allen St listening to Greek music from the festival a block away. The food is really outstanding. I ordered a cauliflower with foul madamas sandwich with yummy onions and cabbage and a ton of tahini. So delicious. The lentil soup was incredible.
May 11 · B LevyOne of my favorite places to go to now! First of all it is HMS and Zabiha certified which is a huge bonus in the Muslim community. I encountered this place one evening after going to a meeting in the city where I just happen to be starving and stumbled onto this place while on my way to the mosque for maghrib. You go inside you’re greeted by one attendant or worker in the front who is patient and understanding. They have vegan options for dietary preference as well as gluten free. The hummus they have was pretty good too m. You have the option of getting either a bowl or plate and I recommend you stay to eat on a plate because the amount you would get compared to takeout and or bowl is far devastating. For a $13 meal it was actually pretty well earned and as you know I’m not a fan of expensive meals but I got to say this meal changed all that. We received our food in less than 10 minutes and the drinks were also pretty good. Not labeled or any logo or branding on it just a medium sized bottle right out from the cooler. It was actually astounding. They have more options obviously I just went with my gut and my instincts were dead on when choosing.
June 25 · YvngumarSo happy there’s a new egyptian restaurant in the area! I got the chicken shawarma platter with garlic and hot sauce and it was so good. This is going to be my new go-to neighborhood spot ❤️
