Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe Introduce
Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe has been a beloved, time-honored institution on Staten Island, New York, since 1970, establishing itself as a premier destination for high-quality, traditional Italian-American baked goods. Rooted in the techniques and traditions perfected by Alfonso Campitiello—whose experience includes working with regional chefs in Italy and serving as a pastry chef at The Plaza Hotel and The Hampshire House in Manhattan—this bakery is more than just a shop; it’s a living piece of New York City's rich culinary history.
The shoppe operates as a comprehensive bakery, cake shop, and pastry shop, with a dedicated specialization in custom wedding cakes. For locals across New York, Alfonso's is the reliable source for everything from a simple morning coffee and quick pastry to elaborate, multi-tiered celebration cakes for life’s most significant milestones. The extensive menu is a testament to its long-standing tradition, featuring classic Italian-American pastries and an enormous variety of layer cakes, cheesecakes, and cookies. The atmosphere is centered on a quick, efficient visit, allowing customers to easily pick up their pre-ordered items or select treats from the beautifully displayed showcases.
While the bakery maintains its decades-old reputation for spectacular custom cakes and classic items like cannolis, the business—now run by Alfonso's son, Anthony Campitiello—is focused on preserving its legacy while also embracing modern cake trends and maintaining a high volume of daily-fresh products. It stands out in the New York market for its blend of old-world quality and commitment to meeting the contemporary demands of a bustling urban clientele.

Victory Boulevard is a major thoroughfare, ensuring visibility and ease of travel.
A significant point of accessibility for all New Yorkers is the physical store’s layout. The establishment is equipped with a wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring that all members of the community can easily visit and enjoy their vast selection of sweet treats. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I been buying their crumb buns for years but recently it's seems as though they changed up their crumb topping recipe, the icing would never fall off like this before eating. Please go back to the old way of making these once amazing buns. April 10 · Bossom22
- Don’t bother, go to cake chef unfortunatelyAt 11am in the morning, I purchased cupcakes to bring over someone’s house. How embarrassing that they taste 2 days old.Their morning Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwiches are now made ahead of time and microwaved. Not only that but they are now charging $1.50 more for an old sandwich that is reheated.I think I’ll just stick with cake chef September 30 · Glenn
- Ordered a custom cake for my uncles birthday . Not only did it come out perfect the cake was delicious! September 02 · jill val
- I picked up a birthday cake for my sister's 65th birthday yesterday which I had ordered on July 24th. The employee who assisted me in ordering it was named Ashley and she was so patient, helpful, & informative as I explained how I wanted the cake to look. When I picked it up, the employee who too care of me said, "Did you see your cake in the fridge?", I told her that "No, I did not look in the fridge."(Thought that was what the employees were supposed to do - take ordered items from the fridge to give customers.) I saw that the number 5 done in icing on the cake looked like a 6 (the bottom of the 5 was joined to the top of the 5) and asked if someone could correct it. She told me "If you stand on the side, it looks like a 5." I told her it did not. I asked her again if someone could correct it - she said "I don't know, he may have left." I said "If you have a plastic knife, I'll try to fix it myself before you close the box". She brought it to the back & it was corrected. The cake was beautiful but the cakebox they use has a slightly open perforation on each side of the top which makes the box look folded. By the time I arrived at the restaurant, the top of the box had caved in, falling on the top of the cake, smooshing the writing & flowers on the cake. The owner of the restaurant took the cake from me & could not believe what the cake looked like - neither could I! He did his best to resurrect the cake but I was disappointed & embarrassed as the host of the dinner. The cake was very delicious & light but I am asking Alphonso's to use a heavier box with no perforations in it for their birthday cakes. I am a dedicated customer of this store for over 37 years and never had problems with their regular cake boxes or packaged bakery goods. I have no complaints about the cake itself - my guests & I loved it, but the cake's decorations were ruined by the caving-in of the box's top. I sincerely hope that you will get better boxes for your lovely birthday cakes! July 27 · Donna Rivera
- Just wow. Walked in and found displays filled with beautiful and fresh pastries along with lovely cakes and cookies. I was drawn by the sweet smell while at a nearby business and we were not disappointed with our purchase of strawberry tart and crunchy biscotti. May 23 · Amy Latorres-Rios
- I loved the cake. Even when this was my first time ordering a cake the person explained it very well on what goes on a cake, filling etc. loved the result and process. Priced very well too (~60) October 19 · George Suarez
- I never do write bad reviews but I was so disappointed in the stale birthday cake I bought from them yesterday. And what was insukt to injury and bad business was when I called them today to let them know the cake was stale and we threw it away, they said their is nothing they can do bc we threw the cake away.Bad business, selling old products and not doing the right thing by your customers.I figure if I can save someone the headache than its worth the post.
