What is worth choosing
For a New Yorker in search of a bar that offers more than just a drink, Back Pocket Bar presents a compelling case for a visit. The primary reason it is worth choosing is its incredible atmosphere and unique character. In a city of countless bars, the cozy, candle-lit "vibe" that has been celebrated by numerous patrons is a rare and valuable find. The owner, a former professional performer, has created a space that doubles as a stage for its talented staff, who are known for their friendly and attentive service that makes the experience feel both "warm and community-oriented." The complementary popcorn, a simple yet memorable touch, further reinforces this commitment to hospitality. The bar’s selection of beer and wine is also a significant draw, featuring a thoughtful variety that goes beyond the standard offerings. However, as with any local establishment, a full understanding of the experience requires considering all feedback. Some patrons have noted that certain items, such as the Sip of Sunshine IPA, can feel expensive, and one customer experienced an issue with a billing mistake and an awkward "upselling" incident with a bartender. It's important for a prospective guest to be mindful of these isolated experiences and to remember that overall, the consensus points to a positive and welcoming environment. The intimate size of the bar means that seating can be tight, with some mentioning that the height of the seats can feel "a little bit off," but this is a small trade-off for the cozy and personal atmosphere. In summary, Back Pocket Bar is worth choosing for its authentic, jovial, and silly spirit. It’s a place that embraces its small footprint to create big character. It's a genuine "charming gem" that offers a memorable experience for those who appreciate friendly service, a warm atmosphere, and a great drink in a bar that feels like a true neighborhood find. For a local looking for a cozy retreat in the heart of the city, Back Pocket Bar is a solid and unique choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute spot great vibe! Candle-lit and dark. Wine & beer menu. The Sunshine IPA was super bitter though, and felt kind of expensive! ($11). Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Free popcorn is a nice touch. Cozy for sure! The height of the seats felt a little bit off with the high tables.Server had us clear the wrong bill which was not too big of a deal, but with only 4 or so customers, I think maybe that could be avoided in the future.
November 26 · Isabella GrandicI’ve had really wonderful experiences here. The bar is small, and bartenders here generally make the occasion feel warm and community-oriented. It is jovial and silly and warm. The selection of beer and wine is also excellent, and the free popcorn is a cute touch.Recently, a friend and I were having beers and catching up here. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and she seemed to imply she wanted to take a shot with us. She did this a few times, and we agreed to. At the end of the night, however, we found she had charged us for each shot.We expressed some surprise. She sort of shrugged and said “we do this thing called upselling.” We paid, of course, but the experience felt underhanded and strange in retrospect. Something to keep an eye on!Otherwise, a charming gem in West Manhattan.
August 03 · Michael KingThe vibe in this bar is AMAZING and definitely because of the service. You walk in to a candlelit bar, a great playlist, and Mo- the most interesting, fun, bartender ever. She kept the drinks flowing, supplied accessories to add to the experience (we were celebrating a bride to be), and a never ending sing-along. Definitely a top notch experience.Drinks available wine, beer, and a delicious cider. There's also popcorn to snack on
June 21 · DeeAmazing vibes always. Never ceases to amaze that Mo can run the whole bar alone never missing a beat and still give the level of personal attention to every patron. Caution: you will lose your voice singing along to all your favorite songs.
June 07 · M CSuch an inviting location. Great music, great vibes, great drinks. Mo was phenomenal and made this such an awesome experience. She went above and beyond to help us celebrate our bride to be 💍! 1,000 % recommend
