Barclay Street Café NYC Introduce
In the fast-paced environment of downtown New York, finding a quiet and comfortable spot to enjoy a good cup of coffee can feel like a small victory. Tucked away at 81 Barclay Street, the Barclay Street Café offers exactly that. This is not a sprawling, high-concept cafe; instead, it is a small, cozy space that provides a sense of calm amidst the urban chaos. Known for its laid-back and casual atmosphere, it serves as a welcome respite for students, locals, and professionals alike. A customer review highlighted its charm, describing it as a "small cosy cafe with large windows perfectly facing the sun and street view," making it an ideal place to pause and watch the city go by.
The café has established itself as a go-to spot for those seeking a quick and satisfying meal or a place to settle in with their laptop. The menu is focused on the essentials, offering a selection of great coffee and tea, alongside some comfort food and quick bite options. While a customer noted that the food options might be "meager," they also expressed a positive view, stating that most people around them had a pizza slice and that they were "definitely" going to try it. This suggests that while the variety may not be immense, the quality of what is offered is appealing to customers.
The cafe’s unique location, which is situated within the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), gives it a distinct character. As one review explained, it has "two sides, and thus two very different experiences," one serving the campus and the other the public. The campus side is noted for its amenities like microwaves, which are a major convenience for students, while the public side offers a quiet space to enjoy a break. This dual-purpose nature creates a bustling environment, but also means that the staff, who are sometimes split between the two sections, are working hard to keep things running smoothly. This unique setup contributes to the café's authentic, no-frills character.

What is worth choosing
For a New Yorker in the downtown area, Barclay Street Café is a truly unique choice. What makes it worth visiting is its unique blend of a cozy, neighborhood feel with the practical, urban amenities one needs. It's an excellent option for those who want to avoid the impersonal feel of larger chain coffee shops. One customer's experience with the "Chai latte" being "worth trying" and another mentioning that most people were enjoying a "pizza slice" points to the fact that while the menu may seem small, the quality and selection are what matter most. The cafe is not trying to be everything to everyone; instead, it is focused on doing a few things well, which is a key to its charm.

Barclay Street Café NYC Reviews
Barclay Street Cafe is a small cosy cafe with large windows perfectly facing the sun and street view. They have a nice selection of drinks and health food. I have only tried Chai latte here and it is worth trying. Most people around me had a pizza slice, and definitely I'm trying it next time. If you are in this corner of busy street and want to be still in time, then visit this cafe.
September 07 · Pearl StarsThe cafe is located within BMCC so it consists of two sides, and thus two very different experiences. The Campus side has two, sometimes clean microwaves. THANK GOD FOR THE MICROWAVES. DON'T ABUSE THE PRIVILEGE.Microwave 101 - 0 Credit bearing course - Cover your food. No one wants bits of your exploded chicken lingering around. This is not your house people. Stop leaving the counter a mess. There's usually only two staff on duty and they are split with the Public side, so if you act like you were raised in a barn, the staff can't possibly keep up with your level of filth. The food options are meager. Again, thank God for the microwaves, which some of you need tutoring in order to operate ::beeeeeep beeeeep slam beeeeep::But there's coffee. Supposedly Starbucks. I don't know if it's any good because my broke-ass brings her own iced coffee complete with coffee ice cubes... because I'm fancy.Sometimes the staff plays really, really awful pop music. I'm talking so bad it actually chased me out once. Most retail establishments stick to inoffensive Muzak for a reason.I can't say much for the Public side except that there's outdoor seating, which is welcome. The pigeons by the Koons' "balloon knot" (wink wink) are aggressive. There isn't much in the area and if BMCC's Business Dept. were on the ball, it would be better run and a hell of a lot busier. It's kinda shameful that it's not.
January 10 · Karen S.Beautiful open space, great views, pleasant staff. Starbucks food and coffee. Conveniently located near to the World Trade Center group of buildings and parks, and near the ACE and 2 MTA Subway lines. It is a part of the Burrough of Manhattan College and it is open to the public.
November 23 · Dahlia HolmesThis is one of the dirtiest and over priced cafes I've been too. There is no sense of urgency from staff and everyone looks miserable. I thought it would be good and convenient considering I go to BMCC. I consistently spend a lot of time at different cafes, and I've also worked at one. For the last few months I usually buy a small hot tea (I can not finish anything larger) and a snack. I always get it with two tea packets (might be excessive) but that's how I drink my tea. For some reason this most recent time there was a problem with me ordering a small tea and taking two packets. It being over priced would be worth it if my experience was more pleasing. Even a change in attitude of who's taking my order would make a difference. I'm definitely taking my service else where from now on.
November 20 · Madelyn EichingerYes, this is NYC so, it's going to be expensive especially in a luxury hotel. They have a "west coast" burger that has 2 patties and lots of toppings while they have the "east coast" burger that is basically a basic burger. The fries are shoestring type that I thought were great! The restaurant is next to the bar and rather casual with a couple tvs to watch the game if one is playing. They may have a more fancy restaurant although, I didn't see it.
