First time trying Ethiopian and I really wanted to like it and leave a glowing review, but I can’t.The service was very warm and inviting and the interior was beautiful, but the food just wasn’t hitting.I got the 7 Hour Doro Wot, which is the national chicken dish cooked in a spicy onion and Berbere stew, served with a hard-boiled egg. It comes with two sides, and my waitress recommended the Missir Wot, which is stewed split lentils, and Shiro, a saucy chickpea dish.It all came served on a bed of injera, which is a spongy, sour, pancake-like flatbread, and they gave me a small plate of extra injera on the side. The food looked flavorful, but I was super disappointed once I took a bite of the chicken. I was expecting tender, moist meat, and instead it was hard and dry. The stew wasn’t flavorless, but it also didn’t have much going on. The lentils were okay, and the only thing I really liked was the chickpeas. On the bright side, it was a pretty filling meal, though that might have been because I had a double smashburger an hour earlier. - Umarbin Siddiki
