At the end of the class I got to enjoy rice and gandules and pasteles that she cooked. The food was delicious and she surprised us with some flan for dessert which was mouth watering. Highly recommend! I’m looking forward to attending more classes with her.

They helped us to serve cake and tidy up after our guests finished eating. We loved working with her and would definitely be hiring her again the next chance we get! March 22 · Out of ZionI drove 3 hours plus for this class and it was well worth it!!! I had a great time and would highly recommend it!! It felt like being with family. She took us step by step so detailed I loved it!!! I plan on attending all future classes. If you want to learn to cook Puerto Rican cuisine or just keep tradition/heritage going then these classes are for you!

April 27 · Ana AliceaI participated in the pasteles class in April. Let me start with these classes are sold out for months so I had to buy my ticket in February for April! When I arrived Maria was so welcoming and assigned us to our tables. She opened the class with the story of why she started the class and memories of her grandmother. She assured us there was no one right way to cook and gave respect to all the elders of everyone’s families who have taught generations to cook. She reminded us that the best way to learn to cook is to sit in the kitchen with our aunties, uncles, grandparents, and parents and talk and understand why they do things the way they do. The class was very informative and special. We took turns peeling ingredients, processing, and mixing masa, Smelling all of the special seasonings, and lastly putting together our very own pasteles! Maria had great food for us to enjoy after all of our hard work. She even thought about all of the recipes we would need to make this at home and sent it to us afterwards to create all of this goodness at home with step by step instructions. I can’t wait for festival season to be over so that we can attend the sancocho class!
