Best Sicily Bottega Introduce
In the concrete canyons of New York's Financial District, where fast-paced commerce and historical architecture dominate the landscape, discovering a truly authentic, family-run eatery can feel like unearthing a hidden treasure. Best Sicily Bottega is precisely that—a delightful slice of Sicily nestled in the heart of Lower Manhattan. Far more than a simple sandwich shop, this charming spot is a multifaceted destination that also functions as an Italian cafe, a cold cut and organic food store, and a pasty shop. It brings a genuine taste of Sicily to New York, offering a respite from the city’s relentless energy with its warm, cozy, and casual atmosphere. Whether you’re a local professional in need of a quick lunch or a visitor looking to experience a true European bottega, Best Sicily Bottega promises a memorable and high-quality experience that feels both personal and deeply authentic. This establishment has earned a loyal following by delivering on its promise of quality, with everything from its coffee to its pastries and sandwiches receiving praise for being "on point." It's a place that not only serves food but also shares a piece of Sicilian culture with every customer who walks through its doors.
The name "Bottega," which means a workshop or artisan's shop in Italian, perfectly encapsulates the spirit of this place. It’s a space where care and craftsmanship are evident in every product, from the freshly made focaccia to the curated grocery items imported directly from Italy. This commitment to authenticity is a significant part of its appeal, with patrons noting that they feel "like they are in Sicily." The dedication is not just in the food; it’s in the entire concept of the store, which also offers a range of Sicilian gifts and goods. This unique combination makes it a one-stop-shop for a satisfying meal and a piece of Italian culture to take home. The ambiance is notably casual and cozy, creating an inviting environment for solo diners, friends, and families with children. The recent addition of outdoor seating provides an extra option for those who wish to enjoy their coffee and meal al fresco, soaking in the energy of downtown New York from a comfortable vantage point. This blend of authentic food and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere makes Best Sicily Bottega an iconic and cherished spot in the neighborhood.
Best Sicily Bottega is conveniently located within the Munson Building at 87 Beaver St, New York, NY 10005. Navigating to the location is straightforward, as it is well-served by public transportation, including several nearby subway stations. For those who drive, there is paid street parking available, which, while typical for Manhattan, is a useful detail for planning a visit. A key feature of the cafe is its accessibility; the establishment is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that it can accommodate all guests. The cafe’s location is both a point of convenience and a testament to its status as a "hidden gem" in a district not typically known for its quaint, family-run eateries. When it comes to deciding what is worth choosing at Best Sicily Bottega, the options are as diverse as they are delicious. The primary menu items—the paninis and focaccias—are an excellent place to start. The Partanna Panino and the Parma Focaccia are popular choices, known for their authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. However, the true star of the show for many is the cannoli. As customer reviews attest, the practice of filling the shell to order ensures a texture and flavor that is simply unparalleled. The crunchy shell and fresh, traditional ricotta cream make this a must-try for any visitor. Pair it with a cappuccino, which is consistently described as smooth and flavorful, for the ultimate treat. For a savory bite, the arancine—stuffed rice balls—are another authentic Sicilian delight worth exploring, with options like Meat Ragù, Spinach & Mushroom, and Prosciutto & Mozzarella. The menu also offers more substantial meals, such as the Baked Anelletti Pasta and Italian Meatballs, which are perfect for a hearty lunch. Beyond the prepared food, the grocery section is a treasure trove of imported Sicilian goods, including various olive oils, pastas, sauces, and spreads. The Sicilian Gift section, featuring everything from ceramic mugs to cookbooks, offers a unique opportunity to take a piece of Sicily home with you. Ultimately, what is worth choosing is a reflection of Best Sicily Bottega's commitment to quality in every facet of its operation. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I definitely think this is a hidden gem in the area for Italian food, light meals, and sweet treats. Small shop yet the staff team was friendly. (Would like to try sandwiches next time!)💛🍒🤍Cannoli was excellent. When I saw the empty and I knew. Not until you order so that the ricotta cheese will be fresh and the shell will be crunchy. The flavor was pretty traditional but whole one is filling.✨☕️🫖Cappuccino was smooth and creamy with a gentle flavor. Like the beans they choose for the espresso.Orange cake was a classic. It smelled really beautiful, but the texture was slightly dry. I recommend heating it up a little bit to make it moist.
August 17 · Julia HThe service is inspiring—you can feel how much they care. From the bakeries to the sandwiches to my cappuccino, everything is on point. This place is an icon. And with the new outdoor tables, there’s nothing better than enjoying a good coffee outside and just relaxing.
July 19 · Anthony EvrardBest espresso you will find outside of Italy (not that I tried every espresso in the world, or in the US since they are usually not that great anyway). I didn’t take picture but it was oh so good! And as of today $3, which is not bad for a really good espresso (but it’s Italian style, so yeah, you are getting 2 sips of expresso if single shot). I got the mortadella and stracciatella sandwich, which was good, but the espresso was the star of my visit. Keep up the good work guys! 😘
September 04 · Maria LeeI stopped by after lunch to pick up a few sweet treats, and I am so glad I did! The ricotta cassatella and the pistachio cookie were dreamy. A place I will definitely stop into if I'm in the neighborhood...I really wanted to try the arancini but was too full. A good reason to return! Forgot to get a cannoli, but another excuse to go back. I wondered how authentic it could be until I heard the man speaking on the phone in Italian while sipping his espresso at the counter...
March 16 · Lisa WilliamsAbsolutely one of the best Italian bakeries in NY. They make you feel like family soon as you step in. The hot (just out of the oven) Croissant are out of this world 😋This will be my new everyday place for breakfast and lunch.
