Bici Introduce
For New Jersey residents seeking an Italian dining experience that skillfully blends authentic tradition with modern, high-end culinary artistry, look no further than Bici Italian Restaurant in Ramsey. Located right in the heart of Bergen County, Bici has become a go-to destination for those who appreciate creative, seasonal Italian fare in a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. This isn't just another Italian spot; it’s a place where Chef/Owner Anthony DeVanzo and Owner Marcelo Gambarato cultivate a genuine passion for food and hospitality, drawing in diners from across North Jersey and the New York Tri-State Area since its opening in 2016.
The name "Bici," which is Italian for "bike" (short for bicicletta), hints at the owners' previous successful venture and sets a casual, convivial tone for an otherwise upscale dining establishment. The restaurant focuses on creating dishes that are ambitious, flavorful, and beautifully presented, utilizing a careful selection of fresh, seasonal ingredients, both locally sourced and imported directly from Italy. The commitment to quality shines through every course, from the appetizers to the decadent desserts.
The ambiance at Bici strikes a perfect balance—it’s cozy, romantic, and upscale without being stuffy, making it ideal for everything from an intimate date night to a special family celebration. The dining room offers an elegant yet convivial setting, complete with white tablecloths and attentive, informed service that enhances the overall experience. Customers frequently praise the excellent service and lovely atmosphere, confirming its status as a premier dining spot in the region.
Chef DeVanzo's menu is celebrated for its modern approach to classic Italian cuisine. You'll find beloved staples alongside innovative creations that elevate familiar comfort food to a fine dining level. For example, the menu often features artisanal, house-made pastas and distinctive risotto dishes that are widely lauded by critics and patrons alike. The dedication to preparing ingredients in-house, such as their pastas, ensures a freshness and quality that New Jersey diners expect from a top-tier Italian restaurant.
The culinary journey at Bici begins with an array of stunning appetizers. Highlights include the creamy and fresh Burrata, served with baby arugula, Prosciutto di Parma, roasted red pepper vinaigrette, and grilled crostini, or the unique Malfatti, which are ricotta dumplings with tomato besciamella and crispy spinach. The Polpette (meatballs) in a San Marzano tomato sauce are another popular choice, a true testament to Italian comfort food elevated by quality ingredients.
The pasta and risotto section is where Bici truly excels. Must-try dishes include the rich Sunday Gravy, featuring fresh rigatoni pasta with meatball, sausage, and pork in a stewed tomato sauce. For a distinctive flavor profile, the House Made Strozzapreti "Amatriciana" with guanciale, pancetta, prosciutto, and stewed tomato is a standout. Risotto enthusiasts will appreciate the savory Fresh Porcini Risotto with grana padana and sage, or the decadent Spinach & Roasted Garlic Risotto topped with warm burrata.
Main courses, or Secondi, are equally impressive. The slow-cooked, tender Cherry Braised Short Ribs are a menu highlight, often served with sweet mashed potato and a red wine and sour cherry jus. Seafood options are expertly handled, such as the Pan Roasted Faroe Island Salmon with a blood orange sauce. For those seeking a classic, the Chicken Cacciatore is prepared with prosciutto, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and creamy polenta. From the butcher's block, the Flat Iron Steak is another excellent choice, served with tomato confit, grilled asparagus, and herbed steak fries.
No high-end Italian meal is complete without a memorable dessert, and Bici’s offerings are handmade daily and exclusively in-house. Diners can indulge in classics like the airy Carrot Cake or the indulgent Beignets. The extensive dessert menu provides a sweet ending to any meal, whether you choose a seasonal option like the Apple Fritters or a rich favorite like the Caramel Pot De Creme.
The overall dining experience is designed to be seamless and satisfying. Bici is a Latino-owned establishment that prioritizes a warm, attentive service style. While the portions are generous on most items, customers should note that the emphasis is on a refined dining experience with meticulous plating and fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you are coming in for a celebratory dinner or a quiet lunch, Bici provides a setting where every detail contributes to a memorable meal.
The restaurant also takes pride in its accessibility and welcoming atmosphere. Bici is notably an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace, ensuring that all guests feel comfortable and respected. Furthermore, they are committed to physical accessibility, with a wheelchair accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom, and seating, making it a comfortable choice for a diverse array of patrons.
The BYOB policy is another significant draw, as it allows New Jersey diners to bring their favorite bottle of wine—be it a crisp Pinot Grigio or a bold Barolo—to perfectly pair with Chef DeVanzo’s creations. This feature not only enhances the personalized dining experience but also provides value for guests.
Bici provides a comprehensive dining solution for the Ramsey area, offering everything from a romantic dinner setting to a family-friendly meal. For the younger guests, the Kids Menu includes simple and tasty options like Kids Chicken Fingers and Kids Spaghetti & Meatballs, ensuring a relaxed experience for the whole family.
For those living in or visiting Bergen County, Bici stands out as a genuine culinary gem. It’s highly recommended that you secure a reservation, especially for dinner, to ensure you can enjoy this sought-after experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had dinner at Bici last night for the first time & loved it. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent & the vibe & atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back for sure. Very special place.
July 26 · lesa brinkerI had a wonderful time here. The portion on my meal was rather small. Very tasty but I was going heavy on the bread just so to make up for it.
June 18 · Carlos CastilloWe really enjoyed all of our food! Standouts were the meatball appetizer and the carrot cake. They are BYOB. My sister in law had to make a reservation a month ahead for the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend. It was very packed. There are a lot of tables though.White table cloths and attentive service. Upscale place. Lots of imagery of bicycles, I guess that makes sense since name of restaurant means “bikes.”Apps are all around $17 and mains around $40. Not everything is worth that price. There used to be a lobster dish that my family was raving about but not on the menu anymore, probably because of high lobster prices.I got the monk fish special for $39. Not worth it, 3 small “medallions” of fish in a very basic bland sauce with tomatoes and carrots. The description said there would be fingerling potatoes (as the second ingredient) so I imagined a heaping serving of potatoes on the side swimming in yummy sauce with fish but there were only 2 pieces of potato. The meatballs were amazing. Great flavor and super moist. 2 meatballs in the app. Carrot cake also very good, a decent slice and those candied nuts on the top added a nice crunch and sweetness. Desserts are $12. Bill came to over $500 for tax and tip for 8 people.I also liked the fried oysters which was on the specials for the day. A decent amount of oysters and they were perfectly fried. They also give complimentary focaccia bread that’s very good and fresh and the olive oil is good as well. It’s a nice environment, def nice for a special event. A little over priced. Mostly good food. They have won a lot of awards and owner seemed very nice and friendly. I also saw that they have been sponsors for the Ramsey farmers market for many years so that’s good to see.
May 11 · MarisaI love Bici! We had not been there in a while but outdoor dinning was open and weather was perfect! The cuisine is absolute perfection from beginning to end. Marcelo, the owner is a charming, hospitable and caring! He was also our waiter and a man of many hats! If you haven’t gone there, you should! You will definitely enjoy this!4/6/24Back to this incredible restaurant! They have expanded the restaurant and can be reserved for different functions and parties! Also some wonderful new additions to the menu! Marcelo and all his staff are attentive, polite, helpful and caring! Reservations are a must!
April 07 · Patricia F Schwartz (Patty)I often find I don't love Italian food because it's too rich without any contrast. Let me tell you, they did a great job in proving it can be done well. I had the scallops with a blood orange sauce and lemon rosemary risotto and green beans. Everything together was perfectly balanced. The risotto was surprisingly light and contrasted well with the sweetness and richness of the scallops and blood orange sauce and the green beans, something I normally don't enjoy, were an excellent earthy undertone. It's expensive for sure but as a foodie it was 100% worth the money.
