BUNSIK Korean Street Food Introduce
Discovering a truly authentic and vibrant slice of Korean culinary culture in the heart of New York City can be a delightful adventure. For those who crave the savory, spicy, and deeply comforting flavors of Korea’s legendary street food scene—known as 'Bunsik'—a must-visit destination awaits in Queens. We're talking about BUNSIK Korean Street Food in Flushing, a restaurant that has quickly established itself as a go-to spot for New Yorkers seeking high-quality, generously portioned, and flavorful Korean staples and more.
The term ‘Bunsik’ (분식) literally translates to "food made from flour" but has evolved in modern Korean culture to encompass a wide array of inexpensive, fast, and satisfying snacks and meals. These are the quick bites you’d typically find at roadside stalls (pojangmacha) or small snack shops (bunsikjip) across Seoul. BUNSIK Korean Street Food in Flushing captures this lively spirit, offering an expansive menu that elevates these beloved street foods, alongside more substantial and modern Korean-style entrees.
New Yorkers, known for their discerning palates and appreciation for diverse ethnic cuisine, have embraced this restaurant for its ability to deliver on the authentic 'Bunsik' experience. Whether you're looking for a quick lunch, a satisfying dinner, or late-night comfort food, this establishment offers a cozy and engaging atmosphere perfect for solo diners, groups, locals, and tourists alike.
The restaurant offers a wide range of menu items that go beyond the expected, blending traditional favorites with contemporary twists. For instance, while classic spicy rice cake (tteokbokki) is available, they also feature modern iterations like the highly popular Spicy Rose Rice Cake, which incorporates a creamy, tomato-infused sauce for a milder, richer flavor profile. This culinary diversity ensures there's something to tempt every taste bud, from the heat-seeker to those who prefer a more savory, comforting experience.
Beyond the 'Bunsik' items, the menu is surprisingly extensive, incorporating a variety of specialized Korean and Asian restaurant offerings. This commitment to a broad, high-quality menu sets BUNSIK Korean Street Food apart, transforming a simple street food spot into a comprehensive dining destination in one of NYC's most dynamic culinary neighborhoods.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Food is surprisingly good!Bookmarked this place and stopped by to try the food for dinner. We got the rose rice cake (spicy tomato cream, not spicy since it was so creamy), spicy tofu soup (less spicy) and beef Japchae and spicy tuna kimbab and everything’s pretty good, Japchae was a bit oily and my least favorite (but could also by that I was a little full by that time).Good to check out if you’re looking for a different place to eat in the area!
June 21 · Rita LI decided to try this place after reading the reviews. With high hope, it was quickly shut down. Maybe due to short staff my experience was not the best. I had to ask to water from the waiter. The place did not serve food with the typical Korean side dish. We were never checked on. We actually had to keep asking for things like a box and a check. It was not worth the hype.
April 18 · MX VueSome dishes, like the curry, are fairly good. Today, however, they completely missed the mark. Service was extremely slow despite us being the only table there, and I ordered the omelette rice, which was completely inedible. Too much ketchup, too much sauce, weird mushy texture. I love ketchup fried rice, but this execution was so horrific. I had to go somewhere else to actually get my dinner.
August 10 · Valerie Li (Valerie)The dining area, kitchen (next to the bathroom), and bathroom were dirty. In the bathroom, there is no paper towel with non functioning hand dryer. Ordered 3 kimbaps (28 dollars total) and tossed all of them away after trying one each. One of them was bulgogi kimbap and there was barely any meat in it with mostly white rice that has not been seasoned. The menu has prices marked out with markers. Will not be coming back.
July 11 · Ju Won KimThis is a casual restaurant with plenty of seating options for small groups. There seemed to be two people working when I went- one cook and one host. The host was kind, though sat behind a tall table that kept him out of view. I saw another customer raising their hand trying to get his attention to no avail. Seems best to go directly to the host if you need anything. We ordered the tteokbokki with mozzarella, seafood soft tofu soup, seafood pancake, and bibimbap, though not all pictured. Out of everything, the soft tofu soup had the perfect kick to it without being too spicy. (Note: I do not handle spicy well). The tteokbokki was very mild, even without the mozzarella.
